3 high priority players. Already in cap hell next year. (spare me the speech)

Marcus Davenport
Erik McCoy
Chauncey Gardner Johnson

Any thoughts to priority of the above? Davenport is the most talented and game impacting. CJGJ arguably is the most valuable piece on a play to play basis.

I hate to say it but I think CGJ walks next year. Davenport and McCoy are much more valuable to the team than CGJ is.

McCoy is a must resign

Davenport is only a resign if he can stay healthy for most of the season this year. You can't keep paying a player to be hurt (see armstead). Plus if Peyton Turner performs this year we have his replacement. Hate to say it but walking away from Cam Jordan to keep Davenport is something we may have to come to grips with

CGJ may be the same situation as M.Williams is going to want to get paid like a top DB and we might just have to let him walk.

Hopefully Loomis does some of his wizardry and will be able to keep all 3

It's always a chore, and you have to wonder if it's just the way it'll be or will there finally be a correction one year down the road. With that said, I recall there were 5 players over $20M per year this year, and now the highest cap hit is MT at $13M. So you know he's going to pull the same tricks with the 4 guys they currently have over $20M.

IMO, Cam's could be interesting. 2023 is the last year under contract, but he made a comment after a game last year referring to 3 more years. So does he get an extension to spread costs, do they cut bait (unlikely), do they just make it a bonus to spread to future years and try to get a new deal after 2023 (most likely most costly to Saints future cap)

MT13s contract looks like a bargin now if he even comes back at 80% his former self.

I really think CGJ wants to be here. We know he's crazy & we embrace it. He was legit pissed when he heard that he was possibly about to be traded.

He's not going to re-sign for peanuts (good players don't do that), but I think he'll choose the Saints if we're in the ballpark of other team's offers.

I really don't think he wants to be anywhere else.

McCoy Is a must. I can see Davenport walking if Turner makes a big leap this year. I can see CGJ walking as well if he wants too much money

is there a way we can get out of Peat's contract? I never wanted him re-signed in the first place.

Eh, we are $78m under the cap in 2024 according to overthecap.com so I would imagine we can move some things around next year to spread out the cap hits.

Not really. We fricked up bad... LINK

2022 cap # - 7.666 mil
2022 dead cap - 23.53 mil

2023 cap # - 18.371 mil
2023 dead cap - 16.984 mil

2024 cap # - 18.371 mil
2024 dead cap - 10.438 mil

Peat also counts for around 4 mil in dead money for 2025 & 2 mil in dead money for 2026. His contract is an abortion.

Peat's contract is 1 thing that I hold against CSP. I thought he overpaid Taysom as well, but it wasn't quite as absurd.

Correct 2024 cap will rise do to new TV deals and just alot of dead money clears after 2023.. Expect McCoy to be extended or franchised. If Davenport can't stay healthy his market will be low so resign him on 1 year prove it deal gets you to 2024 to make a long term decision on him. Ceedy Deuce is a wild card, I think he is important to the leadership of the defense and team plus by 2024 you starting to look at the end of D. DAVIS and C. JORDAN leadership run. Ceedy is nearly a must resign and I think if you can do it sooner the better!

which is still bottom 5 and of course in 12 months time, we'll be bottom 2 for sure.
