I would take Cameron Heyward(D-line) after watching him play a dominant game in the Sugar Bowl or Justin Houston(OLB) from Georgia if Akeem Ayers(OLB)from UCLA is has already been taken

Martez Wilson- two things on him... Position? he played MLB but many believe he is more suited to 3-4 OLB. He has that tweener mold that may not be enough either way for a 4-3 DE or LB. Second, herniated disc in his back that kept him out for all of '09. That's an injury that ya cannot not just gloss over in regard to longevity.

Best bet is to keep an eye on to see if he could pan out as a SLB possibly. Danny Clark tweeted that he was indeed badass (his alma mater)

Houston wouldn't play OLB for a 4-3 team like the Saints. By listing him as one, it sounds like you expect him to...

Justin Houston wouldn't be the first player to make a transition from a 3-4 LB to a 4-3 LB or vice versa.

PP7........I like this, so do the Pro scouts...

quote:

Doubled as a return specialist for the Tigers in 2010, ranking first in the SEC and fourth in the nation in punt returns with a 16.1 average ... Also led the league and ranked ninth in the country in kickoff returns with a 29.1 average ... Returned 26 punts for 418 yards and a pair of touchdowns ... Set the school's single-season record in kickoff return yards with 932 on 32 returns ... The 932 kickoff return yards ranked as the fifth-highest total in SEC history ... Ranked fourth in the SEC and 56th in the nation in all-purpose yards with 114.2 per game ... His 1,484 all-purpose yards ranked seventh in LSU single-season history

I do like what SKOHRboard said about PP7

quote:

Patrick Peterson from LSU The Panthers will take Peterson because he is a truly elite talent. The complexity a lockdown Cornerback affords a defense is something that their new DC, Sean McDermott, will love when they start using his blitz packages that he ran with the Eagles. A shutdown CB helps in 2 areas of the field, first by stopping a team's top WR and second because he makes the QB hold on to the ball too long and then the pass rush can get to him. Peterson is being talked about like he is one of the best in a long time. Fairley and Bowers will certainly get consideration here but it's much easier to find highly talented DTs and DEs later in the draft than it is to find once in a generation CBs.

Calling him a 3-4 OLB is an insult to actual 3-4 OLBs, he rarely stood up up. IF he went to the Saints, it would be as a DE, not an OLB.

It's a bad fit to play him OLB in a 4-3, no pass coverage experience or overall play with his hand off the ground.

it's still way early and a lot of shakeout is yet to come- both positionally and value wise. We'll get a better sense of where players like Houston fit as the process evolves. There's quite a few that have to be defined whether better suited to DE or DT also.

The premium pass rushers in either scheme always are a little higher on the demand scale than most positions. Left OT types edge up the most IMO.
