Hahahaha I hope that goes through. OKC would wreck people.
Someone already posting BayouBengal's trade on another board. The OKC people are trashing it, saying they are giving up way too much for Paul. They think Westbrook and Paul are on the same level and that West is basically filler. Lulz.

but abysmal offensively. I hate to say it, but they would have to do everything they could to sign a MT5 type of player and re-sign Landry.
Yea, everything would go through Westbrook offensively and we'd just have to hope he can carry a team similar to how Derrick Rose did this year.
Teams wouldn't score more than 87 or 88 points/game off of us.
And you are correct, we'd need a Thornton-type off the bench in the 2 spot.
Jack
scoring 2
Iguodala/Ariza
Landry
Gray
Iggy or Ariza would still play with the 2nd unit, most likely. Oak could get some minutes in that group too. 2nd unit would go through the scoring 2 and Landry. That would actually be a pretty solid group.

Unless your scoring 2 was DWade, this team would not win more than 35 games.

That would be our 2nd unit.
Westbrook
Iguodala
Ariza
Ibaka
Okafor
is the 1st unit. We'd struggle offensively, but be the best defensive team in the league, by far.

I wouldn't say by far, but yeah..it'd be good.

Ibaka and Okafor controlling the paint down low, with 2 of the top 5 or 6 wing defenders in the league on the outside.
And Westbrook has all the tools to be a great defensive player if he is motivated and coached by a guy like Monty.

the only way that trade would be a good deal is if CP3 was DEFINITELY leaving NOLA. Otherwise, it's garbage for the hornets.
And I don't know what OKC would be bitching about. That would be a nasty team if they did that trade.

We'd be a deeper team, but I don't know if the front office would like the decrease in ticket sales that would come with this trade. We'd have to save payroll to absorb that hit, IMO.
At first glance I hated that trade, but if that trade went through and we had West, Landry and Ibaka, we could deal West to Philly for Iggy (or Landry or Ibaka along w/ Belli/Green). So then we could have:
J. Nelson
Iggy
Ariza
Ibaka
Perkins
and the 2 lineup of
Jack
Harden
Quincy
Landry
Gray
not too shabby but I think less butts in the seats w/ Paul gone.
ETA - that 2nd unit would put up more points than the 1st unit, which would be needed badly.

Well this is stupid, because we won't know until he either leaves or re-signs, because he isn't signing an extension.

No it's not. They'd have a better record than they did this year.

You really think if CP3 makes up his mind to bounce that he wouldn't be decent enough to let Demps know so he can get moved?

I misread your comment.
Yes, it would definitely be a good move it we knew CP3 was leaving. However, there's a chance he could think he wants to stay in New Orleans, but then change his mind and sign elsewhere in the off-season. These players are human. Even the most trustworthy people can't be fully trusted in these situations.
And either way, I think this is a perfectly fine deal whether we know if Paul is leaving or not. We get a top point guard in return, an extremely young and athletic 4 to replace West, AND a 2 who can create for himself going towards the goal and is probably one of the two best wing defenders in the NBA. What's not to like?

they have some tards on that OKC board
overvalue every single one of their players and downplay west and call him overpaid

It'd be interesting to see how it would work out for us. Great defense for sure, but a couple of those guys would need to step up and become better scorers imo.
On the other side, OKC would be nuts. We would certainly be looking at a Thunder/Heat rivalry that could lead to multiple finals matchups for the next several years
