He’s a good team defender and set screens well. He doesn’t really do well with rim protection and can get loss on offense sometimes. Can shoot 3s somewhat. I’m not saying he’s the best center, but he’s an average one that can be useful for us. He’s only getting paid $12 million this year and $11 million next year. I have no problem paying him that.

Ainge doesn’t want to pay Markkanen when his contract comes up. BI would be the exact same issue.

We need a starting center and if we expect that to be Lauri Markkanen we’re going to give up 50 layups a night.

I get that we’re all anxious to see what happens here, but if a BI trade for a starting center doesnt look to be happening this offseason I think we should try and pivot for something smaller like a Kessler-type rather than get Pennies on the dollar for Ingram due to a perceived need.

BI is an all star wing on an expiring contract with length who can hit a mid range despite whatever defense is in his face whenever he wants to and is in the right mindset. As we approach the trade deadline there will be several teams desperate for such a player to make a push. I think we’d be in better shape to get our center then

I like Lauri a lot btw, I really wanted to trade Lonzo for him pretty much from the end of Lonzo’s penultimate season up through hoping we could include Lauri in a Lonzo s&t with Chicago. He just made sense for us then and he doesn’t right now. If we either 1.Had a Center or B. Weren’t essentially in the tax with less than $7M from the first Apron, I’d be all about it.

Also if we trade for Markkanen we’d have to extend him pretty much immediately or risk losing him next year and losing BI for nothing. If we do extend him then I don’t see how it’s possible to afford a starting center of any caliber and we then are in a serious pickle with Trey’s extension.

Idk, seems messy

Lauri makes about $18m. BI makes about $34m. Best plan for us is to move BI for assets Utah wants, get Lauri and Kessler along with a $16m TPE (Kessler fits into the Kira TPE).

The Pels ending up with a top 7 of Murray/CJ/Herb/Trey/Zion/Lauri/Kessler would be pretty strong.

If Trey is almost a seven footer why not play him at center. Use the Celtics/ Butler model to spread the court. The Pels have length at the guard positions to offset some of the defensive liability of TM3 playing the center position.

Imagine a lineup of Trey, Z, B, Murray and Herb.

I’m good with getting rid of Bingram, but I really don’t want Laura.
