It only took 42 games. Maybe by game 62 he’ll realize Naji isn’t very good.

Did it take too long to try? Absolutely. But one thing you guys never take into account are the team politics. Look at whose minutes got taken by Hawk. Those minutes have to be earned without a doubt.

Blah, blah, blah, Naji. Willie has this thing where he chooses defense over offense in lineups. I’d like to say it’s a flaw, but it’s also hard to argue with the results he’s had this season. The Pels are on pace to win 48+ games while the 2 stars have been underwhelming for star players.

Are you really defending Willie after we beat an absolutely awful team by 20 at home? Sure he’s on pace to win 48 games. That doesn’t mean he’s done a great job. He should be on pace for winning 55. Talent on this roster alone has won games.

There are plenty of times Hawk could’ve gotten minutes. There is also no excuse for not playing at minimum Trey with Zion.

I really can’t believe you are defending Willie’s coaching. Maybe the two stars aren’t playing like stars because they aren’t put in a position to succeed. Rotations alone have killed Zion’s ability to do what he does.

I mean part of it has to be believing what he is seeing. A mid 1st pick like Hawkins playing like he high level bench player in year ONE is totally unexpected.

No, I’m saying it’s not as black and white as we always try to make it.

I personally disagree with his myopic focus on defense, but the team has been a top 10 defense this season, which is pretty good when it’s got arguably just 4 plus defenders, and 3 of those are bench players.

I do and have blamed Willie for this. I’ve been begging for trying all offense lineups for what feels like months. I’m not defending Willie as much as I’m pointing out there is often more than one answer even though we as fans feel our answers are right and the coach and GM are idiots.

This isn’t In Willie We Trust, more that he’s not crazy, there’s a method to the madness most of us disagree with.

What’s the method? I don’t see it.

A team without many defenders has played good defense. If he can keep the defensive effort of the team up while giving more minutes to offense first players like Trey and Hawk, that’s kind of what you want. Let’s see if he sticks with playing Trey and Hawkins more, especially together, and see how the defense holds up.

It’s amazing that fan sites everywhere are populated by elite
coaches. Kraft screwed up by not selecting Belichick’s successor from a Patriots board.u

Let's not forget that it took Willie basically two years to see that Graham was terrible.

I remember begging for more Jose minutes and less Graham.

The same Graham, who is like a homeless version of Hawkins, played 15 minutes a game for us last year and can't even see the court for one of the worst teams in the NBA this season.

Willie is not just myopic about D, he's stubborn with vets, going back to playing Temple so much that first year.
