if you get him into foul trouble it completely messes up the spacing of our offense.

How did we ever make it to this point with our ONLY spacer missing most of the season?

You're being overly dramatic on our shooting. We have 3 guys averaging a higher percentage with more attempts than Trey this year. Yes, Trey brings a different kind of shooting, but some phantom risk of him getting into foul trouble shouldn't impact your defensive game plan, because his shooting isn't the only way we can win.

Its a strength if we have CJ or Trey. They must hit and stay out of foul trouble. BI and Herb also hit last game- that needs to continue as well but can’t count on that every night. We didnt even use Hawkins last game.

I agree though we’re much better than the Lakers shooting wise. I think AD/Bron will get calls. They alwats basically do. The while suns team was in foul trouble.

Trey admitted himself he missed couple defensive assignments when he came back

that's b/c he hasn't played a real game in 7 months. Of course there's some rust.

This is no knock on Trey but hes not a lockdown defender by any means at this stage of his career.

I would agree.
But he has steadily been getting better on defense since he's got into the league, and he already looks a little better this year. He looks very confident out there.

One thing i thought Trey did an awesome job against Sacramento was challenging shots at the rim. He looks bigger and more confident as a shot blocker.
I want to see more of Trey guarding guys that he can help off of so he can keep being a rim protector behind JV.

One of them (Hawkins) didn’t play last game. Im not really counting Herb, Naji or Ingram as actual spacers. CJ is the other one and Matt Ryan is hurt. We have 4 legit shooting spacers on this team and Trey is by far the best.

Trey has a very low foul rate. He's not exclusively guarding those guys as we will throw different guys at them all game long.

And Trey is as close to the physical frame you want defending AD. He has height and length, but isn't a heavy-footed big. He may give up a putback or two, but he will also put the Lakers in a defensive bind if he can make AD guard him or switch onto another wing.

Yaz is focusing on extreme specificities on the defensive end of the floor, while ignoring the imbalance that you create in your favor on the offensive end.

This I agree with. Having Trey being your help defender and grabbing boards is your best option.

Willie didn’t play him because of defense I think. He was completely benched.

While these games are just fun for us, these games are being treated like playoff games by the coaches and players. It's no surprise that the rook with a total of 21 games in the league doesn't get minutes when the rotation shrinks. Dyson only got 6 minutes and he's been our second-best defender all year by a substantial margin.

if I were the Pels i would start the game letting Zion try to take over early both scoring and passing. he can get guys in foul trouble in a hurry.
