So you look at a guy like DeAndre Jordan who hears rumblings of Boogie potentially getting less than the max and he thinks, with the current market drying up, and the best FA big potentially getting less than the max, how much better of salary can I get than my current $24 mil? Maybe $26?
If DeAndre Jordan opts out, I'd be surprised if he gets more than 17mil or so.

Demps is going to be bidding against himself again. On the Omer Asik to Jrue Holiday sliding scale, lets hope the Boogie contract works out for us closer to the Jrue side of the ledger...
ETA: Not in terms of cost, in terms of value.

I wasn't even talking about bigs specifically. If you're a Paul George, you know that fluke injuries can happen anytime. A torn achilles could put you in "prove it" deal territory, even if it's the # of years on the max deal you lose. KD will be 30 before the start of next season. Get your max now. Even a talent like his could lose money with a gruesome enough injury.

Most of this noise about Cousins' other options seems likely to be coming out of his own camp. It came out early, has been repeated multiple times, and they even got Boogie and some burner social media accounts involved. That suggests what they've discussed initially is not something they want to agree to.

right, maybe even less. the only reason I said maybe $26 mil is because the only chance of something like that happening is via either the Lakers or Mavs. which are both risky plays for him at best
