Let D West walk. Its nothing personel its just common sense at least in theory. With Landry being a cheaper option and capable of almost matching stats with West while being better on the defensive end of the court it will provide more money to the team in order to pursue other options in free agency. With the contract West would demand we could try to sign something along the lines of both J Smith and M Thornton. Thornton is capable of dropping anywhere from 16-24 a night consistently as a starter and Smith could play off the bench at both the 2 and the 3 finishing with starter type minutes which in turn would come out to about anywhere from 13-17 points a game. This would also give us an open court fast break game with 2 slashers in Ariza and Smith who could be runningmates with Paul. I think even though we are trying to become a defensive minded team one of the things that cost us in the playoffs was a lack of offensive options, athletism, and size. This would help us in meeting two of those goals. I would then retract the offer given to Bellenelli and offer up his salary along with Jason Smith's in order to pursue another big body(Chandler) if by the grace of god Demps and Paul have that kind of pull, while bringing back Gray. This would bring back a superior defensive backcourt of Chandler and Emeka to stop teams from getting penetration and easy points in the point while allowing Ariza and Paul to defend the perimeter which is what they do best. Again this is all good in theory but to me at least sort of makes sense as well.

Kings love Thornton, Fits their sytle of play and he can guard the point while Evans can guard to 2 guard since Evans is 6'6. He fits their sytle of play better. Time to forget about bringing him back to nola. Sorry LSU fans.

Trade 1
LA gets Dwight Howard
Orlando gets West and Okafor
Nola gets Bynum and Odom

Trade 2

Toronto gets willie green and marcus banks

hornets get barbosa

Lineup
Cp3/jack
Barbosa/ Marco
Ariza/ Pondexter
Odom/ Landry
Bymun/Gray

This might be the first trade idea I think I like. It's a risk with Bynum's knee, but he killed us in the playoffs and showed how good he can be. But I don't think Orlando does this. They're gonna want a lot more for DH.

There is absolutley no way this goes down. First, David West is a free agent. Only thing you are going to get in a S&T is a bunch of roll players or draft picks.

For comparison, this past year David Lee went to GS in a S&T. I believe the Knicks got Kelenna Azubukie, Anthony Randolph and Ronny Turiaf.

No. Evans plays the point and MT plays the 2.

I didn't say it was going to happen. I just said I liked it. And doctors told DW he would be ready to go by early-mid November, essentially missing a few games. He too is a risk, but I think he's worth more than that with Okafor involved.

With that lineup, I'd start Landry over Odom.

Not looking at salaries, but Orlando would want Bynum and odom, not west and Okafor.

Howard/Turkoglu for Bynum/Odom saves Orlando ~$5m and Odom/Bynum > Oak/West. Getting rid of a bad contract + good young center + pretty good PF is a very good return for them, and I think the Lakers would definitely be willing to do it since Fish/Kobe/Artest/Gasol/Dwight is fricking sick.

Trying to predict a series of trades that leaves us with 3-5 different players is kind of pointless. The NBA is such a crapshoot, it's damn near impossible to foresee any of the trades that actually happen. I like these ideas, but I feel like they can get a little farfetched at times.

I posted this in another thread. This was my best idea;

Hornets Lose:
Paul
Ariza
West (Sign & Trade)
2012 1st

Hornets Get:
Darren Collison
Danny Granger
Mike Miller
Chris Bosh

Heat Lose:
Chris Bosh
Mike Miller
Mario Chalmers (Sign & Trade)
2012 1st

Heat Get:
Chris Paul
Trevor Ariza

Pacers Lose:
Danny Granger
Darren Collison

Pacers Get:
David West
Mario Chalmers
Hornets 2012 1st
Heat 2012 1st

Hornets Depth:
Collison/Jack
Miller/
Granger/Pondexter
Bosh/
Okafor/

Hornets would drop approximately $29.1 Million in Salary, while taking back $31.6 Million. A difference of $2.5m which would be made up with Anderson going play in Italy. They would have to work on backups big time and decide what to do about Green, Belinelli, Smith, Landry, and Gray. I think they'd all make good role players/back-ups on this team.

I'm not a fan of dealing Paul, but with West opting out, I don't see how we could keep him.

Heat Depth:
Chris Paul/
Dwayne Wade/
Lebron James/
Udonis Haslem/
Joel Anthony/

Heat would drop $23.4m in salary, while adding $20.8m. They would save $2.6m. They would probably do the same they did this year and sign a bunch of cheap vets for role players and backups. They'll free up a lot of cash as a lot of their contracts last year with vets were 1 year contracts.

Pacers Depth:
Chalmers/Hill
Rush/
George/
West/Hansbrough
Hibbert

They would be losing $12.4m in salary, which should be plenty enough to sign both West and Chalmers. Granger isn't as untradeable anymore, as George played excellent towards the end of last year. Losing Collison for Chalmers is probably not in their favor, but would be softened by the two additional 1st round picks in a supposedly loaded 2012 draft.

Do I have to re-educate some of you people again on JR Smith?

That dude sucks. Anyone thinking J.R. Smith would make a significant contribution to this hornets team is fricking blind/retarded.

I wouldnt want JR on my team, but I would definitely take him over those scrubs we had playing shooting guard this year.
