These are questions for Willie Green. As a head coach he’s in charge of his staff.

Is he? Did he select Borrego or was he given him, with no choice?

I do not get the impression that Green selected his staff. Am I wrong?

We do not run Borrego’s offense. Not since basically the first month of last year. Willie has outwardly stated his goal the last few minutes of a game is to set screens and match up one on one with the other team’s worst defender. A tactic that has not worked for us since Willie arrived here. That is NOT Borrego’s scheme. There is a base, but when it comes to designing individual plays and sets, and certainly in clutch situations, Willie is making those calls and it’s largely disgusting.

You can ask these questions but you’ll never know the answers to this. In the end all we know is Willie as a head coach is in charge of his staff- unless Griff controls that as well. We have been given no indication that this is the case. So I will say for now Willie is in charge and responsible for his staff and the input they provide.

Doesn’t matter right now. I’ll just take anything that injects a little bit of energy into this team.

the last few minutes?
this is what they do the entire game, except they don't really try at all to set those screens to force the switch, and the guy going one on one ALWAYS has the ball 40' away from the basket to go one on one instead of setting screens and actions to try to get those mismatches in the post or at the elbows.

Borego Hornets teams were top 10 teams in 3P FGA/Game. They fell to bottom 10 the year he left.
If we were running anythign Borego wanted to do we wouldn't be dead last in 3PA/game.

I'm still trying to figure out what are we trying to do on offense. It's like it's changes from night to night and depending on who is out there. There's just no identity in what we are and suppose to be.

It's very easy, lineup 4 short guys and a big (sort of) then chuck up as many 3s as we can. Then allow the rebound to the other team and watch them fast break or hit a wide open 3. Rinse and repeat.

Yeah, heaven forbid we try to design plays with movement that allows…..wait for it…..an open shot.
