Shed bad contracts while retaining assets

Bet on young cheap talented players to get better in Graham.

But we didn't get one goddamn targeted fa. That's all facts. You can be happy with future cap flexibility and betting on the following players to develop:

Zion (will happen)
BI (Should happen)
NAW (Starting role incoming lfg)
Graham (good volume 3 guy that plays with energy, cheap to move if it doesn't work out)
Didi (no fricking clue with this guy)

3 of those dudes need to take another step in their game and Pels will make the playoffs.

And you can be mad that we didn't get one single fa name and Zion may leave if none of this shite happens and Willie is terrible.

We all need to hope that the guys in the locker room look around and realize they're the ones that need to lead this fricking team.

he's not young

Lonzo was young, and viewed as a superior asset, and we got less back in return for him, so

This is on Zion. Straight up. With all the media relentlessly hounding us he has to say something if he actually wants help. Even if you want to leave in a couple of years, come out publicly and lie through your teeth and say you love it here. Otherwise these next couple years will suck for you and us.

Only because of how people viewed him coming into the NBA. Graham is a better fit on a much better contract.

Can’t really put all the blame on Griff for striking out on bigger named free agents this time around. I mean shite, we reportedly offered CP3 3 years/$100M. If a player doesn’t want to come here, then there really isn’t much else you can do but throw out a big offer and hope.

Now, you can blame Griff for the shite moves last offseason, which significantly hurt the teams playoff chances. If we had just made it into the play in and performed well, we’d probably have a much more appealing pitch. Also 3 coaches in 3 years is a bad look

Graham is less than 3 years older than Lonzo and Lonzo has actually been in the NBA longer than Graham.

Lonzo was a superior asset at a much higher price who didn't want to be here.

We still have 5 first round picks the next 4 years.

The thing that also makes it difficult is the state income tax. Even if we offer more, we aren’t going to beat other teams who states might not have income tax.

Everyone always say New Orleans is a horrible place to live. But we are ranked top 10 in destinations of people wanting to visit. Every pro player or famous person actually loves living here.
AD and CP3 said the people are great and it’s a great city. We host numerous big sporting events. Corrupt government though

However, the Pelicans has not became a great reputation of their organization. If they did, I can tell you people will go here rather than OKC, Portland or Utah. Winning matters. Look at the Saints.

Certainly state income tax comes in to play, but it is not as big as issue when considering that half of their games are taxed in the state/city they play their away games in.

I keep hearing this, but does anyone else remember back in February when we were all willing to trade Lonzo for a ham sandwich? Lonzo's talent and ability is undeniable, but when has he ever shown any level of consistency?

Plus he gets hurt just about every year. In his NBA career Lonzo has played in 217 of 308 games. He's been better since he's been with us, but he still missed 1/4 of the games last year.

I get the thinking behind teams valuing him highly, I just think he's a riskier bet than people seem to be indicating in the media

This is a pretty ridiculous take if we’re being honest. You’re normally much better than this.

The income tax argument doesn't really add up considering most players don't have a problem going to teams in California or New York where they get taxed way more and have a higher cost of living. Winning changes the perception of a franchise more than anything. You brought up the Saints as a great example. A generation of kids today have grown up watching the Saints as winning franchise. Those same kids have grown up watching the Pelicans lose every year and watch star players jump at the opportunity to go elsewhere.
