It really is good news. I want to see what kind of damage this team can do with this roster, and continuity is the best way to assess that. If you switch out the head coach right now, then the coaching change becomes a reason/excuse for player performance.

Uncle Al did some good work in helping the team get the season turned around. He deserves to finish it.

I will be in quite the pickle if the Pels go 8-0 and then win the first round series.

If they beat the lakers, he sure as hell deserves to keep his job.

I do. Even if you absolutely love Fearless Alvin, you know his window just doesn't fit the team's long term. It was even in doubt whether Gentry would be able to coach in the playoffs, you can't take that kind of risk.

If Langdon's inside info on Atkinson says he's a good fit, that has to create a sense of urgency. We always talk about retreads because there are rarely good young coaches on the market.

If Griffin can get his guy this offseason, then he should get him. If the guy he wants won't be available for another year, then I'm OK with Gentry for another year.

But yeah, everyone knows that Gentry is too old for the eventual title runs of this team.

Fortunately the talent level has increased enough that it almost doesn’t matter who the coach is. But you make the decision to change based on the coaching supply, like you said, not some sense of obligation to Gentry.

I think they are allowing Gentry to finish this but he’ll move to the Front Office after. I think Atkinson will be on the bench next season.

However, to play devils advocate, the offseason will be insanely short so there won’t be a lot of time to turnover the keys and install a new system.

Gentry will be the HC next year. I think anyone that believes otherwise is being extremely optimistic.
