Jrue is #2. Nothing really wrong with that except when such a player is given the role of a #1.

Honestly, I would say Jrue is a solid #3 scorer on a great team. He’s a great defender who can get on offensive hot streaks from time to time. He’s just not a guy who can consistently take over and close a game.

thought it has been telling that in his two recent interviews Griffin has mentioned Redick, not really Jrue, as the example of a veteran player that has really taken on a key leadership role on the team.

Well Reddick has been apart of teams that has had championship aspirations and has been in many playoff battles. Jrue has been apart of one first round sweep and a Sixers team that couldn't wait to overhaul tha roster of an annual overall 7 seed.

JJ has earned the right to be the leader of this team because he has the experience to back it up

still think it’s going to be Ingram and Zion as the leaders of the team with Hart as the guy off the bench.

What makes you think that Ingram is going to be the vocal leader that we assume is needed? He is even more of a quiet personality than Jrue. His nickname is the sleepy assassin. And why is it that we assum a leader is someone who is vocal? Tim Duncan is one of the most heralded leaders known in sports and it is constantly talked about his style of leadership being through show an not tell.

Instead of leaving the blame on Jrue for the pass, he takes the blame on himself. That's real leadership. I'm loving Ingram more every game.

You say blame Jrue for the pass, but Jrue had nowhere else to go with the ball. Missed in all of this was Lebron did a great job of forcing Jrue to have lob the pass up high to Ingram after the initial option to JJ was shutdown. BI is right that he should have stepped towards the ball instead of fading back giving AD a direct jump into the passing lane. Good for him for acknowledging the mishap.

The bigger issue I have is with Gentry and the crappy playcall and not calling TO when it all broke down.

Just because he’s not a loud rahrah visibly emotional player does not mean he isnt a leader. By all accounts, he’s a great vet that works well with young talent. No teammate has ever disliked him. Judging his “fire” off of him being friendly with one of his best friends after an NBA game is asinine.

I do agree that he isn’t a first option, but my God ya’ll turn on our players faster and faster every game. Appreciate the insane amount of good he brings to the team instead of the few bad things he might happen to do

At critical junctures Jrue showed no fire, no passion, no visible want to to win last night. He is not the leader of this team nor do I think he wants to be the leader of this team.

He’s not even a great 2nd option.

Nothing comes naturally to him. He is not an elite shooter, elite ball handler, or elite athlete but he is an awesome team player that come playoff time will get you the big steal, big shot, or big hustle play.

When the Pelicans has Davis if he was a legit second option they would have made more noise over the last six years.

However going forward he is perfect along side Zion and Ingram. This team just needs to get healthy.

The only reason some people post on the board is to vent their frustration and blame something or someone when things don’t go right. It doesn’t always produce the most rational analysis.

I think at times he definitely looks to be elite.

Unsure if you’re implying that I will turn on him. No matter what Jrue does, I will always be a fan. I appreciate everything he’s done for this franchise and I love how he plays basketball.

It is not his fault that he was thrown into a role that doesn’t fit exactly what he provides. He is a great 2nd guy or 3rd guy, and can be option #1 to guard star players on defense and option #1 on offense when he’s hot

Jrue’s actions after the game will have exactly ZERo effect on this team. Only bothered disgruntled fans.

I think he can be the main leader, not the best player or first option though

definitely should not be the closer in games unless he's played well the entire game
