This is what Mike Gorman, play-by-play announcer for the Celtics, had to say about AD and being traded...FWIW
This is on HoopsRumors and CSN NE
quote:
Speaking on the Toucher and Rich radio show, Gorman said neither Davis or the Pelicans are interested in a trade. “Joel Meyers, who’s been around the league forever and is a great play-by-play guy who does New Orleans, [told Brian Scalabrine] and I . . . ‘No shot [Davis is] leaving.’ There’s no shot he’s leaving. He is anchored to New Orleans, loves New Orleans, loves living there and wants to ultimately be the leader of a good team in New Orleans,'” Gorman said. “Well, good luck to him if that’s the case, because that’s going to take a while.”

People were saying the same thing about KD early in his contract too. I do wonder how Lillard and Westbrook will change things. Hopefully those 2 can make being the alpha of your own team cool again instead of all this beta BFF teaming up. The Jordan Era had a bunch of awesome players that never won it all, but all those guys are still iconic and made the league as a whole more enjoyable.

You don't have to agree with everyone's opinions, you should still respect them a-hole

yeah but...
malone had stockton
payton had kemp
hakeem had sampson/etc
barkley had KJ/majerle and then drexler
isiah had a whole team of good players
shaq had penny and then kobe
etc...
drexler with portland was really the only one who carried a team to the finals. after that, its really just iverson who did it

Oh I still think that, at best (or worst depending on your viewpoint), AD will be gone after year 4 when he doesn't exercise his player option.
I just think this squashes the notion of trading him in the short term which everyone probably already knew.

Why aren't you respecting my opinion that you're an idiot?
And no i shouldn't. Respect is earned pumpkin.
I'll respect your right to have an opinion, but it's idiotic to believe all opinions are created equal and shouldn't be challenged. I'll respect an informed opinion that can logically be backed up.
And y'all's are up there with the dumbest.
Here's a question for you (extreme): if someone says that the Holocaust never happened or was deserved, should I respect that opinion?

The Holocaust? When you have to bring that up to make your point about sports, you're obviously grasping

My point wasn't about sports, my point was about your views on opinions.
Reading comprehension be hard

Send Davis and Hield to the Lakers for Russell, Ingram, and 2017 first round pick. That's the best value that we could likely get for AD. And having our first rounder and the Lakers first rounder (likely lottery picks), we'd have 4 young players full of potential to develop a team with.
What kind of deal is that? You want to trade away our franchise player who's got MVP caliber talent for 2 young players who may or may not develop into stars and the Lakers 2017 first round pick, which as of right now wouldn't be a lottery pick.
Maybe the Pels would do something desperate like that if Anthony Davis was in the final year of his contract and they didn't think he'd re-sign....but he's in the first year of a 5 year deal. He isn't going anywhere anytime soon and the Pels will likely be picking near the top of the draft in 2017. They've got 3+ years to build around AD before even having to consider trading him if the team still sucks and they want to avoid losing him with nothing in return. Jrue and Tyreke's contracts are both up after this season, so the Pels will have cap space to go after some good players who aren't constantly out with injuries

I get that we might have to trade AD eventually, if we can't turn this thing around before it's too late. Two problems:
1. It's way too early to discuss this.
2. That's a terrible, and I mean AWFUL, trade for us. We shouldn't be throwing in Buddy, they should be throwing in Randle and the Lakers don't even have a first round pick this year.

WCS, koufos, casspi and mclemore all appear to be out of the rotation in sacto
without offering holiday and/or a 1st end pick, anyone see anything pels could offer that they'd take?
assuming ajinca/asik have zero value, and Moore/hill are here to stay, what's left?
they got Lawson/collison at PG, temple, gay and afflalo plus cousins and Barnes/tolliver
who would they want?
ironically Evans might fit well with them

They could have gotten Gay for an expiring Ryno last year when they've said a playmaking SF is what they needed. If they had any interest in Gay he'd already be here. Also, I'm ready to keep the powder dry. We shouldn't burn future assets to save this season.

You know nobody's in charge of anything over here. If you want to do it go for it, and if you want to update the score in the thread title more power to you.
