I assumed Thornton was gone a couple weeks ago, but I feel like they could have got something much better than this.

I've never seen a Hornets trade go down . . . not a single one . . . where someone didn't make this post on one of the message boards.

What's funny, is that I was listening to a couple of discussions on both Fox Sports and ESPN about possible NBA trades. When Thornton's name came up nobody thought he was worth more than a future draft pick.

a lot of this is from the dysfunction of the hornet organization

our GM/coaches didn't play him enough to showcase him for a trade, to get better value

it was a clusterfrick of a situation with an immature player and immature coach and a weak GM who wouldn't step in to mediate

I don't understand how this trade will make us better. We now have a log jam of bigs and are instantly thin and the 2 guard spot.

I'm happy for MT though b/c now he'll get a chance to show his ability, but as far as the Hornets go I don't see how this move makes them better place them as a serious contender in the playoffs.

Outside of Paul and West we still don't have an offensive threat. Teams will constantly double these two guys to get the ball out of there hands b/c they know when it the ball get kicked out for the open jumper odds are in their favor that no other Hornet can burn them. This Hornets team is pretty easy to defend offensively.

We have a log jam of mostly crappy bigs. Landry is a legit starter quality big. I was looking at Landry's game log from last year and he had 26 games where he scored 20 or more and he got 30 or more 3 times. People are acting like we gave up Thornton's scoring for nothing in return but Landry can score too. He also gets to the line at a decent rate. 4 FTs per game in 26 minutes this year off the bench compared to West's 4.7 FTs in 35 minutes and Jason Smith's 1.2 in 16 minutes.

It also should make the 2nd unit more effective if they have an actual post scorer to play with. I'm sure Green and Jack will still act like ball hogs more than they should, but now they have another option. I don't like the rental aspect of it even if we weren't going to resign Thornton, but other than that it's a good trade.

As a rockets fan, I think yall are getting way too excited about Carl Landry. He's definitely a high energy guy and fun to watch but he's a backup NBA 4.

Who's getting too excited? Thornton was a "gone pecan" regardless. Landry isn't bad in return.

Our backup PF's before the trade were Jason Smith and David Andersen. His numbers say he's a whole pay grade above what we had. When I called him starter quality I meant like Willie Green, he's capable of starting in the NBA. Doesn't mean he's a good starter, just that he's capable of doing it.

I'd like to get a swingman out of them if we could...even if that means putting Anderson in the deal.

Dammit. I was going to post that but I didn't want to be accused of pretending to be an insider.

This was a horrible fricking trade. Yet again the Hornets continue their history of bad moves. This dude is a scrub.
