Lol if we had a halfway decent offensive counter part to AD in the post we could dominate the paint. Their guys besides Bogut are 6'8 and smaller

Go get yourself checked out man. You're retarded.

DC needs to start on Green, AD on Bogut. No more saving AD. They rarely go to Bogut anyway, and asik hasn't stopped him.

Asik may be frustrating to watch when he drops the ball, but he does exactly what we ask him to and I hope you know that. We're 2-4 without him and our two wins are Secramento and Utah, two world beaters right there

He's fits ADs playing style and isn't going anywhere, and because you obviously don't understand the ins and outs of basketball, I'll break it down for you. He doesn't match up with GS because of all the fast breaks they run. If we were playing Dallas, he would be having a field day.

I really enjoyed watching Asik cap the sh_t out of Westbrook on the Thunder's last possession to single handedly win the game for us. The only moment I enjoyed more this season was Anthony Davis' three pointer to win the following game against the same team.

I'd hate to break it to you guys, but if Asik wasn't on this team, the Pels would not be in the playoffs.

false.
Take Asik out and put in just about any other decent center and we'd be no worse. There's at least 25 guys that could do at minimum what he does, which is be 7' 260 and have negative offensive skills (can't even give him 0).

Yeah he helped us beat OKC once with his presence down low at the end. He also had 2 turnovers and 2 missed dunks in that game, 5 points 8 rebounds. He also siglehandedly loss the game against the Spurs. Outside of the one OKC game, you never said this year, "man we wouldn't have won without Asik today"

quote:

We're 2-4 without him and our two wins are Secramento and Utah, two world beaters right there

Let's look at the 4 losses
At LAC without Ryno and Tyreke
At GSW without Ryno and AD
At Denver, Ajinca 12 points & 8 boards, Mozgov 5 & 4
At Portland, Ajinca 6 & 8, Lopez 8 & 6

The only team in the league that he gives us an advantage playing against is Memphis. They are big and play slow. Every other team in the league he turns into a liability on the court for the most part b/c he can't catch and gets the majority of his dunk attempts blocked.

38 listed below, take 10 out if you like, and the other 28 would all have been as good if not better options than Asik. On top of these 38, Okafor and Towns will obviously be better choices than him as well next year.

Jordan
Cousins
Drummond
Chandler
Vucevic
Noah
Gobert
Kanter
Mozgov
Gortat
Valanciunas
Jefferson
Dieng
Bogut
Thompson
Hill
Gasol
Gasol
Adams
Lopez
Lopez
Horford
Hibbert
Pachulia
Len
Kaman
Biyambo
Plumlee
Plumlee
Nurkic
Koufas
Mahinmi
Henson
Olynik
Perkins
Sims
Whiteside
Speights

Asik sucks. I don't mind keeping him, at 7-8 million/year, but we need another center that doesnt' look like a bean pole that has some semblance of offense.
If we resign him at 10+ multiyear, like some on here think we will, we are doomed. I wouldn't mind the guy if he gave the effort every night, but too many times he looks and plays like he just doesn't give a shite that day. There's times where he really looks good on defense, and makes a difference out there, but it's like once every 5 games he plays like that.

It's not Voodoo Economics, the cap is going up by at least 40%, this is a known fact that will happen in 2 years. So today's $8 million, a figure you say you're comfortable with, is tomorrow's $11 million.

I don't buy that.
It's not an even escalating scale for everyone.
Just b/c the cap goes up 40% doesn't mean everyone makes 40% more. You don't give people pay raises just b/c you have more money to give out. You give people pay raises b/c they deserve it, and he does not.

AD is going to make 30% of the cap. if you want to pay Asik $11 million, and have him take up 20% of your remaining cap, than we aren't getting better. There's 13 other guys on the team, Asik isn't worth 20% of the salary amongst those 13 guys.

Name something Asik does better than Speights?
Asik's isnt' Ben Wallace. until he becomes Ben Wallace, he doesn't need to be making anything over $8, and that's if and only if we can't get another center out there.
I'd like Asik at $8 as a last resort.

Well somebody should start asking our 7 footer to start rebounding.

Edit. I take that back. He had 13 last night

So you think adding 40% to the amount of money teams can spend on players will not effect the supply/demand equation at all? Why then aren't players getting paid the same as they got paid in the 90's, or the 80's if cap increases don't affect player salaries?

Name a center better than Asik that will be available this offseason for the MLE. That's the problem you can't solve. That's the reason a draft pick was given up to get Asik.

Of course it does. But it doesn't mean every player in the NBA is now worth 40% more than their current salary.

There may be a team out there that thinks Asik is not worth 40% more b/c they have more money to spend. That team is desperate and dumb. A smart team would pay him what he's worth, around 7-8million and go find more quality players to bring in.

I just listed 8 of them in the other thread, without listing any on rookie contracts.

It's no secret i don't want Asik. Been saying it all year. If he played like he did in the second half last night, i wouldn't mind paying him the 8-10. But he doesn't' give that effort every night for whatever reason. I'd rather someone who might not be as good on defense, but can score 10 points a night and not be a liability on offense and still play decent defense and give effort every night, and there's guys that do this making under $6 million right now.
