I still don’t believe Memphis is going to make the playoffs. It’s Portland you have to be concerned about. They do this year in and year out. They start to go on a big run post all star break every season. I don’t see it any different this time around.

Their schedule is quite favorable after the ASB as well, so it's lining up again for another run. That's why we need to win 1 of the remaining 2 against them to ensure we have the tiebreaker should we need it.

Their March schedule is a joke. Their quality opponents is Houston, Memphis, Dallas, Boston, and Philly.

Where the Pelicans have the Lakers, Dallas, Miami, Utah, Clippers, and Memphis twice in March.

The Pelicans have a uphill battle to climb.

The Pels have actually been better statistically at the Smoothie King Center (plus-0.1 points per 100 possessions) than they've been away from it (minus-4.2), but just haven't been able to close games in their own building. In games that were within five points in the last five minutes, they're 3-10 at home (including 1-9 since late November) and 8-9 on the road (6-1 since Christmas).

Portland still controls its own destiny, three games in the loss column behind the eighth-place Grizzlies with all three head-to-head meetings still to come. The first of those is Wednesday in Memphis and the Grizz will have a rest advantage, with the Blazers playing (another important game) in New Orleans the night before. The other two meetings (March 12 and April 5) are in Portland, where the Blazers have won five straight after a quality win over the Heat on Sunday.

If the Pels don't make it I hope Memphis gets in. No MVP mode Lillard and No Zion in the playoffs with both dropping a game to the Jazz on a bad no call might lead to some reforms.

Additionally, the Pelicans' remaining opponents' combined winning percentage is .454, lowest in the Western Conference (according to @tankathon ). The good news: Memphis is at .554, toughest in the NBA The bad news: Portland is at .466, 2nd easiest in the West

They’ve been winning with Dame playing at an unsustainable peak, he’s gotta slow down a little. Hopefully they can start losing slightly more often.

I didnt expect this degree of excitement until the last week which i figured would feature pels and spurs, not portland or Memphis. Based on schedule it looks like pels and portland.

I wonder if the players are as into the standings as we fans.

Kings @ Bucks
SAS @ Denver
Suns @ LAL

About all thats worth monitoring tonight and it could go all 3 in our favor. Im sure the Kings and Suns will eventually drop off but you have to give them some credit, they are fighting too. A Spurs loss puts us at a T-10th.
