Lots of players bad players have looked great in Summer League and I’m not basing my opinion solely on what we have seen so far.

But NAW and Hayes have showed they could potentially be positive contributors in year one. I didn’t feel that way before seeing them play this summer.

Add those to the vets and Zion and I don’t see them not making the playoffs if the injury bug doesn’t hit hard. The other big question mark is gonna be team chemistry with all the new players but that’s the nature of the NBA and most teams are dealing with that every year also.

Lonzo
Jrue
Ingram
Zion
Favors

Redick
Hart
Moore
Miller
Frank
NAW
K Williams
Okafor
Wood?
Hayes
Melli
Silva

This team is sneaky deep which would make me think we will see a trade or two. It’s an exciting time to be a Pels fan with the new change and positive image Griffin has given us.

I’m ready to flap with this flock!

ETA: added Melli and Silva.

Not sure who is gonna be out or in for the roster by the opening game. Wood maybe but y’all would know more than me.

I cant say for certain that we will but I do love our chances.

Jrue, Favors, Redick are really the veteran catalysts that I think are capable of keeping us on track and the only reason we have a shot IMO

Brandon, Zo, and Hart I think have something to prove and want to show out. They also have the perfect amount of NBA experience to start coming out their shells.

Zion is kind of our wildcard IMO. How good can he be year 1?

I love the bench guys. Melli, NAW, Moore, Jackson etc

we have soo much depth and guys that I think like to or are willing to play complimentary basketball

Also because all of our guys like to pass the ball our chemistry will come together a little quicker than teams with ball dominant players IMO.

Who do we replace in the playoffs this year? The West is incredibly stacked.

Melli is the wildcard to me. This team needs a shooter and someone that can give you some positive minutes while Zion is off the court. Hopefully Melli can be close to Niko was because he will be needed.

OKC more than likely won't be in the playoffs if Chris Paul gets traded (very likely). Then i could also see the spurs dropping out.

That leaves 2 open spots for the Kings, Lakers, Pelicans, and Twolves.

it is the NBA

the season over the course of 82 games can change in an instant. a trade, an injury, or a team implosion

NOLA is certainly in that mix for a playoff spot due to the fact that they are arguably the deepest team in the NBA and can weather most situations.

Lebron or AD goes down...so do the Lakers
Westbrook and Harden dont mesh...down goes Houston
Curry is a MVP but he has no Durant, no Thompson, no Iggy, no Cousins, no Cook, no Livingston...that is a lot of turnover
Portland is still star guard heavy but lost some decent depth this offseason

Clippers, Utah, Denver are the most logical locks IMO
every other team is very much a potential victim of circumstance playing the odds

I think the Pelicans need a lucky bounce but we have gotten nothing but lucky bounces all offseason

people cant really knock our team chemistry...almost the entire West had a roster shake up minus Utah and Denver

Teams I expect to not struggle:
Clippers
Jazz
Nuggets
Houston
Warriors

The fight for last spots:
Lakers-season depends on health of AD and Lebron. Without both healthy, they will be in trouble.
Spurs- only bc of Pop
Blazers- not sold on them but could end up with another good season
Pelicans- remind me of the original Dream Team
Mavs- Doncic and healthy Porzingas could be interesting

I also understand injuries and trades will happen. But as of right now, I have the Pels in.

I appreciate others jumping onboard with the optimism. I said the same thing a few weeks ago when breaking down the roster.

An example of depth is that E Moore, a quality player who started almost half of the season could now have trouble finding minutes, for good reason. Moore was needed for spacing, but now we still have D Miller (who shoots a higher volume than EM) and have added JJ, Hart (insta-fan-favorite) and Melli to play that role.

With Zo, Jru, BI, & JJ being the top backcourt / wing players, the staff have tough decisions to make on the next 2-3 guys off the bench (playoff rotation is often no more than 7-8 eight deep). SF still isn’t very deep but BI is a great addition above what we’ve had previously and I agree with those saying he’ll play heavy minutes.

PG: Zo, Jru, NAW (F Jackson/Moore?)
SG: Jru, JJ, (Moore/Hart...maybe even Miller?)
SF: BI, Miller, Williams, (Moore?), (Melli?)...maybe even some Zion minutes on the wing?

The defensive abilities that Griffin has assembled gives the team some flexibility to play that “positionless” basketball and opens up options on offensive “positions” potentially limiting Moore’s opportunities. Though, I know some are higher on Moore than Hart and Miller as far shooting goes.

I wouldn’t necessarily bet on the Pels making the playoffs, but I know damn well they will contend for it. Which is all I can ask for in year 1 of a “rebuild”. Super pumped for 2019-2020 season and BEYOND!

correct answer

Hope springs eternal

The issues youth, time to play/development, finding combinations may put pels behind the others jockeying for 7th and 8th.
A favorite or two will drop to the g league.

By trade deadline the future will be on the court. And picks will join them year after year.
