I don't know how much I liked the name Krewe, but I did think that it would be the smart move for Benson to go with. I think it would be a top seller year in and year out. Being the urbaness of the league, Krewe would do well with fans around the country.

Do yall think Benson was influenced by the state of La, and is gonna get some love from the State (Money, Tax breaks, etc) for naming the team after the state bird?

I totally do not concur. OH man we can be the Krewe, Our logo will be a bunch of letters and throw in a trumpet. Shoot me in the butt.

I understand your point, but they would also have no idea why it was spelled with an a K. Which would probably irritate me even more.

Why would the state want Pelicans? Seafood, tourism, Marsi Gras ... stuff like that maybe.
I'm doubting the mascot is solid yet, but it may be done. It would exceed the timeframe for the Thunder to get theirs... July to February for them.

That is how it is spelled for all Mardi Gras Krewes. Which is what it would be named for.

Pretty much sums it up. I'm not sure why the "urbans" would want to wear Krewe products.
