Just finished up my Christmas shopping and was buying some Pelicans clothes. I went to Dick's first, where they had one rack of Pelicans stuff. There was maybe 2 different t-shirts and 1 polo.

After that I went to Nawlins Sports in the mall. There was nothing other than old Hornets stuff on clearance and kids Anthony Davis jerseys, which were right next to Lebron and Derrick Rose jerseys. I mean, how the frick can you call yourself Nawlins Sports when you have more attire of other NBA teams than the Pels?

Finally, Academy had a somewhat decent selection, even though it was minuscule compared to the Saints and LSU stuff.

Did I miss another store that actually has a decent selection?

I wasn't expecting much, but damn, I was disappointed by how little there was.

There just isn't a big enough of a fanbase in these parts. And not everybody in BR are basketball fans before they are football fans.

Where else in the state has a larger metro area than NOLA? So yeah, my natural inclination would be to think BR would have a solid amount of pelicans fans.

The only Pel fans I've met in BR were LSU students from Nola. Most BR residents either don't give a shite about the NBA or are Heat/Laker/Thunder 'fans.'

You think it's bad in BR, I'm not sure if there is a place in Lafayette that has any Pels merchandise.

I rarely see Heat fans around here. Thunder fans?? I am far more likely to fans of the Bulls and the Fakers.

You blind or what?

Oh wait, you actually think you are special and that every 12 year old isn't on the bandwagon? Cute.

I get the majority of my stuff at the Black and Gold shop. Both the Metairie and northshore locations. Good selection. They keep asking me when I am going to buy a Pelicans flag

To be Honest even in New Orleans Pelicans gear is hard to come by. I have been trying to buy a polo for about 2 months now and have yet to be able to find one. The people at the Pelicans merchandise store told me they have been advised it might be well into next season before they can produce enough gear to satisfy the older consumers who want higher end shirts and polo's.

Existing is not reason enough for people to go fanatic over them.

They need to give people a reason to get excited about them.
