They should be able to hit the ground running next season. Everyone is bought in, and outside of figuring out fitting around Zion, everyone knows their roles more or less.

Yup that’s why I want as little roster turnover as possible, fill out the edges a little bit by bringing in an upgraded role player or 2 for Graham, Hayes and Temple if possible, but that’s the only 3 I would be willing to move.

Quote from Griff today about the scene in the locker room after the game.
quote:

The emotion of that, and Eddie you've been there when a season ends and you see, you're sitting next to Jose in his locker, and Jose and Herb Jones are a mess, they've given everything they have to this pursuit. You're watching Willie Green go into that locker room and be the grown arse man that he is and look everybody in the eye and tell them how proud they should be. If you didn't have the sensation that you want to be part of that moment, there's something seriously wrong with you.

This was ultimately a quote about Zion and his extension, but the part that stood out to me in bold is we have guys that hate losing. This team had no expectations. Herb and Jose were expected to spend a lot of time in the GLeague this season. They had every reason to be happy about how for they got rather than disappointed that they didn't make enough plays to go farther.

This is such a huge change from the AD/Demps era that was built around good players from bad teams full of guys that seemed to not be too bothered by losing. Not bothered by losing from the top down then vs. hating to lose from the bottom up now.

But these guys didn't only hate losing because they were obsessed with winning. I would argue that there's a path to the Dark Side there.

Our guys hated losing because they were having so much fun winning together, and they didn't want that to end. That's what is truly special about them -- and this season.

I haven’t watched NBA in some years now but after tuning in to some Pelicans playoff games this post season, I am excited for this upcoming season.

As a Pels fan, this season will never be forgotten. The season itself wasn't the best but the buy in, the locker room, the brotherhood, is something to be very proud of if you support this franchise. I also agree that "The Squad" made me feel and see exactly what I hoped an NBA locker room felt like. Those dudes loved being around each other. I saw no animosity at all.

Thanks for posting this. Can't wait for next season. We took the #1 team in the NBA to 6 games. Imagine what it going to be like with most of the guys returning plus Zion and the #8 draft pick. Herb and Jose have been a revelation and Trigga is moving up fast. Willy G did a great coaching job in his rookie year.

We have the culture and we have the talent. Watch out NBA!!!!!
