Don’t think he’ll be a PG in the league… and as a wing, I’m underwhelmed. Not enough athleticism to make up for his shaky jumper, no mid range game of any sort, and his strengths are things we already have on the roster at the position with Herb and BI. Then he’ll have to compete for playing time against Murphy as well. If we take a wing, that player has to be able to create his own offense, shoot, defend and have solid handles.

Jabari Smith is #1 on griffs board.

Makes sense. Smith’s skill set is frankly better suited for the nba than college, and he gives the pelicans more length and shooting. He also fits the Pels timeline (which is now) better than a guy like Chet.

Frankly I assume Smith is close to being 1 on every team’s board.

How do you think he compares to say lonzo?

There's definitely some similarities.

I struggle to find one thing Daniels is better at than Lonzo coming out. They play at different speeds, which isn’t always bad. But Lonzo has a gear that Daniels doesn’t.

Just seems like a 6th man type, Secondary ball handier type

Daniels is a more well rounded playmaker in the half court and has a more developed arsenal of interior scoring moves and ways to get a basket than Lonzo coming out, better off ball cutter.

I wouldnt take him over any of the big 4 guards mentioned top on the board though.

Agree, what I’ve seen he’s savvy in the half court but I don’t think the skill set is high on our list of needs. I’d rather Mathurin or Duren — shooting or rebounding / interior D.

The obvious hole on our roster is at that 6th man/scorer spot, a la Tyler Herro. You hoped Graham could fill it, but he seems to have regressed. Fortunately, there should be several strong candidates if we stay around 8. Ideally you’d get a guard/wing who can shoot 40% from 3 and defend with some length, but anyone who gives you some scoring punch off the bench would be valuable.

Second need might be a back-up forward given all the issues we’ve had with Zion. If a guy like Keegan Murray slides down to us, he’d be a useful rotation piece.

Keep an eye on Dyson Daniels. It’s early, but out the gate I like him more than Jaden Hardy.

And after digging in, his growth in just a year is impressive, and that sort of ability to achieve tangible improvement seems to often translate. Because to me it’s showing you know how to learn with results. Whether it was AD, BI, Buddy, Herb, or Lonzo. I think the ability to diagnose and show major improvement with key fundamentals is one of the best indicators a player will continue to grow.

Not ready to write his ticket to the top 3, but I want to keep an eye on him

Just sayin lol

…I waffled throughout the year, but I’m glad we got him
