Has anyone come across an article, or maybe wants a good stats project to work on, that would show historically the best final record for a team that starts off 1-11? Can we get a historical tracker?
I've looked at the historical bad seasons list a few times... but would love to know how far in a hole teams have been, and still gotten off that list.
our '04-05, Pre-Paul, Dickau season, could end up looking great next to this one... Amazing to consider that. Somebody call PJ Brown, Speedy Claxton and Dan the Man... if we are gonna lose, let's at least be entertained.... i loved that team. No hopes, no dreams, just Dan.

Just my personal opinion, but every year is different, so I think it's better to be forward-thinking than backward-looking. The Pelicans are 1-11 right now, so to finish above .500, that means they have to go 41-29 the rest of the way, which is about a 48-win pace over an 82 game season.
The next question is how many wins we think it'll take to make the playoffs. I think 42 may be a bit low, but I can't see it being higher than the 45 the Pels got last year. I'd say the Pels have to play at about a 51-win pace the rest of the way to get a playoff spot. Difficult, but not impossible. I had the Pels with a low-50s win total if fully healthy all season. The problem (obviously) is that they're still not fully healthy, so the longer they keep taking this nosedive, the tougher it'll be to climb out (mind-blowing take, I know).

1 of these is totally not like the others and is one of the best PFs to put on a Hornets uniform.
