So, the #1 question should be...what does AD have to say about this?

Honestly, as much as I thought Monty earned his final year, if we're changing coaches, this is the right time to do it. We will need to establish a new culture in AD's next contract and want to give him time to get adjusted.

I know YOU're joking but for the future :

There is almost no way they'd fire monty without consulting AD(and probably other players).

On top of that, the coaching pool is a little deeper than usual with multiple successful coaches getting fired for the sake of change and several big name college guys throwing their hats into the ring. If you fire him next year it looks like you might have slimmer pickings.

Hopefully the next coach runs a scheme that fits our players

This is why Thibs is a guy that makes the most sense. He worked with AD with USA basketball and I believe it was his defensive scheme mostly used which allowed AD to thrive.

Not to mention he had Asik for 2 years, and Asik's numbers in Chicago were straight nasty. Yeah they were bench minutes but his defensive production has fallen from elite to just good since leaving Thibs.

Exactly right. I think this could mean Evans and/or Ryno could be sent packing for other assets. JMO

I don't think Thibs has a system that compliments what we have.

His lack of offensive flexibility is the reason he and the Bulls front office don't get along.

We are basically getting a white Monty Williams if we hire Thibs

No other players on the Pelicans roster deserve any input on coaching decisions.

Yeah, I don't see how either of them would mesh with Thibs' schemes.

Evans is definitely not a Thibs-type of player, but I would LOVE to see him under Thibs for a year.

Sure they would. According to Morey, there are two types of GMs and/or owners: the kind who discuss these matters with players, and the kind that don't, regardless of stars.

Thibs is light years better than Monty.

Looks like he was filming something for ESPN, so I'm not sure this is related at all.
