. . . my arse, do you think Arnie Fielkow becoming CEO of the Retired Players Association will in any way help N.O. retain the Hornets? He claims he will continue to champion the city.

I'm sure he'll champion for N.O. but can't imagine that position has much sway in terms of keeping the team here. When I first heard he was hired by the NBA I thought it was to work with Sperling.

If he's representing retired players isn't his role to get Fisher to give up some of their slice of the pie that they're already pretty attached to? I don't see how he does anything but make the labor situation worse.

He was one of Benson's Right Hand Men that parted ways with the Saints over the attempted move to San Antonio which gave him enough NO cred to win a seat on the city council and it sounds like people thought he was doing a decent job there.

Probably no direct help. But the dude does have contacts in all of professional sports. It certainly can't hurt.
