re: So are the Clippers retarded or just don't have enough/right assets for us?

They should be going all in. Put the smack down on the Lakers and have a legit shot at winning something next year with AD. Could draw Kawhi with AD on roster.
Both...

quote:Absolutely you do a deal before the draft if you consider the draft pick to be an important asset. You do not just defer to a team to pick who they want and settle on that later. If you do not think the draft pick is a valuable asset, you don't include it in the trade and ask for additional future picks if you want to wait until after the draft to do a deal.
So, lock yourself into a shite deal now to draft guys you kind of want as opposed to waiting on a better deal?
Because all indications are we don’t want the #4 picks.

You miss my point. Our negotiating stance pretty much says “we don’t want the pick, we want what someone will trade for the pick”.
If no one is offering shite for the pick, the difference between Garland, Culver, Hunter, etc, appears irrelevant to us because we are unlikely to take the LA deal anyway.

Well, it seems most likely at this point
So....

starts to matter....

You missed the fricking point.
We are shopping that pick and not getting any takers.
If we aren’t getting what we want out of a trade, the pick becomes irrelevant because we can just walk away from the trade.

You missed the point.
Doesnt appear anybody is offering anything better than Ball, Ingram and #4.....so we can walk away sure, but to what??
I understand ideally we want LAL to trade that pick and assets for a good vet player....but that doesnt appear to be happening

A bad return is worse than no return, especially if it means strengthening a Western Conference competitor.
I’m at the point to where I would rather risk sitting on AD for the season than send him to the Lake Show UNLESS they pay a backbreaking price.
And the reason I think it works is that LeBron and their other issues will ramp up pressure to where they desperately make a deal, sign someone else, or move LeBron, all of which improve our options either for a Davis trade or for playoff positioning.

But that is still locking us into an LA deal which doesn’t appear great at the moment.
The pressure should be on LA to get us to accept, not the other way around.
As Woj put it on Twitter, “If LA is drafting for themselves at 4, they are in big trouble.”

you answered your own question....
see, the only piece worth taking and building around is SGA... he ain't available per the Clippers.... and rightfully so... good, young future All Star.... see, they MAY get Kawhi, and they may not... if they don't get Kawhi, and they were to trade SGA, all they'd really have is AD, and the rest of what the Clippers sort of have now, which ain't much, so they wouldn't be any better off... if they had Kawhi, SGA would be available and they'd have a much stronger chance of pulling AD from us, but as it stands now, they just don't have the pieces we are looking for....

Clips don’t want to give up that young guard.
