If scouting was just making sure the guy was a dog in high school, then Eric Gaines would be a top 10 pick

The one from LSU? Wasn't he a 3 star? I don't remember him being a big time recruit..

all those NIL deals finally show the world that American universities are the true stage for the best basketball in the world. Might as well just forget the League and the Olympics altogether.

You say I can't let stuff go. But you both follow me thread to thread rehashing previous discussions. It's kind of odd. But ok..

What are you talking about? I simply said college life>>> NBA life when talking about draftable players. Do you not agree they should all withdraw?

Only a few guys I would take over Sharpe... Smith, Chet, and Ivey. Toss up with him and Mathurin. Would take him over Banchero honestly.

Sharpe in the top 4?

I would be pretty pissed. Nobody has a clue what kind of player he is. You've seen his highschool "highlights" that mean literally nothing.

Jaden Hardy, Emoni Bates, and Patrick Baldwin Jr where the # 2, 3, and 5 ranked recruits out of highschool.

Hardy looked terrible in the G league and is now a late first, Emoni looked so terrible he's not entering the draft, Patrick also looked like absolute shite and will get drafted late 1st only because his measurables.

Sharpe is the biggest question mark in the entire draft. Pels already have their superstars in Zion and BI. I would much rather select a high level role player over Sharpe.

Shapre has nowhere near the quick burst Green does.

Totally different game. Sharpe relies on his supreme length and vertical to get his shot off. Short area burst is not his strength.

Getting the best available player is what you do, selecting a role player over a possible superstar is frickin dumb

Because your horrible takes get in the way of the actual conversation. We don't follow you, your silly arse logic just keeps popping up in threads with the same lack of awareness after you've been taken to the mat on how bad it is. You don't listen and you don't learn. What's odd is how you don't adapt to it.

Now onto the topic.

What's sad is I like Ivey as the pick but I don't think it's for the same reasons as you. The reason is that you don't understand the need for more scoring wings when you think that we lack depth for the guards when we lack depth on the wings. Your complete and total misevaluation of Ingram exposed that you don't know. We've needed better three-point shooting for a couple of years. Now we finally have the depth players who can open up the floor to the whole team and just need more options for quality shooters. Ivey or the other who shoots the 3 at 40% is the best bet. Chet will take 2-3 minimum to develop, yes he plays off-ball very well but his tools need honing. So what if he's skinny and he's not risky, he's just a project that needs development before it can run to its full potential. He'd be great with the Spurs. He'd open up Walker more to run the offense better. He's a trade asset at best for the Pels in their current situation to get more shooters for the team if we get a high pick and take him.

How's that dumb?

Sharpe has equal chances to bust that he does become a star, it's not guaranteed he will be a star.

If you believe Zion and BI are stars then you should surround them with high-level role players.

A lot of players bust. Im not saying take Sharpe top 4 but at 8 I sure as hell consider it.

I could definitely stomach taking him at 8.

Would obviously depend on who else is available. Top 4 though? Idk he's such an unknown.

I dont want you confused and think Im taking him top 4 because I definitely wouldnt. Selecting Mathurian or Sharpe at 8 is good with me.

I don't but Ivey is a 40% 3 point shooter.

His shooting regressed horribly as the season progressed. His form is similar to Ja, it's as if he pushes the ball.

I guess our front office would have to decide if they think they could develop his shot, which we haven't seen a ton of shot development coming out of the franchise as of recent.

Because if he can push the ball like Ja then that's huge for him coming off our bench in keeping the pace going when the starters are out. I guess a personal evaluation on if he is a leader or not would be my next look at him.

He could be developed to a 3 and D or push the offense with the bench rotations. I wonder what Willie thinks we need and if he thinks Ivey could be a high-level role player.

Disclaimer - I don't watch college hoops

I wish I could find the tweet but I read that Ivey I think led the nation in long 3s, maybe 25 or 28 feet out.

Just puts a bit of perspective on the raw 3pt%.
