You do realize that if you take the trade at the deadline you almost certainly don't get Zion, right?

If we already have Griffin before the trade deadline, do we end up with the Lakers haul? Or does Davis not get disgruntled anyway?

Do you think that if we take the Lakers trade we and everyone else in the league has the exact same number of wins and losses?

The 7th and 11th seeds won picks 1 and 4. I have no idea how it would go down in a re-draw and neither does anyone else. I do know neither team would have got much worse or better as a result of the trade. So why would either team project higher or lower? Its all luck. But I know where they ended up, so that is the most logical result to reference. Honestly its just a way to discredit my point. If the Lakers ended up picking 13th, you don't think they would be throwing that back at me? Its all sour grapes..

Of course not, UNLESS Cap can return the Infinity Stones to the precise moment they were taken. Only that way do we not create branching timelines and keep this one intact, thus still obtaining Zion.

A Pels team not tanking wouldn’t have been in a three way tie with the Mavs and Grizzlies, two of which ended up winning the lottery.

A Lakers team which looked to be playoff bound wouldn’t have ended up in the 11 spot, more likely ending up at the back end of the playoffs or in the 14 spot where Sacramento ended up.

Simply put, the chances of either team ending up in the top 4 were slim as is and would have dropped significantly if the trade were made, as neither team would be actively tanking.

So what you are saying is that this awful trade would have made both the Lakers and Pelicans so much better, that neither would have been in the top 4? A top 4 that is a lottery and based on pure luck, right?

This trade probably helps the Lakers up about 5 spots to the 8th seed in the west, meaning it clearly won’t be the 4th pick.

No telling what it does to our pick because everything was so fricked between AD being forced into the lineup and the injury situations with various young Lakers.

Not saying a dramatic improvement but enough to frick both teams in the lottery for not much in return.

You’d have to believe that the trade would effect the league in no way whatsoever, effectively killing your favor of the trade.

The reality is that the Pelicans would almost certainly have either more wins or more losses, and so would the Lakers, which would effect the position of every team in the league.

Whomever wound up in the Pelicans spot would win the lottery. That wouldn’t change.

If the Pelicans won or lost one more game, they wouldn’t be in the same spot. And they wouldn’t get Zion.

This isn’t hard.
