Yea and some people here overvalue Eric Gordon AND his value. klay aint great but he has just as much upside as Gordon and on a much cheaper deal. Also might be a good time to extend him on the cheap.

Um. Wouldn't overvaluing Eric Gordon be overvaluing his value?

He doesn't have as much upside as Gordon. Not even close. The big factor is injury. Will Gordon reach his potential or not due to his injuries?

This is just not true.

Is he really the answer, as well? He's not exactly rookie of the year material.

He's the fourth option on a playoff team.

He has real good potential.

You people will castrate me if you knew my opinion on all this.

Thompson has just as much, if not more, potential than Gordon

My opinion

If you're not factoring in injuries, I don't see that at all.

Not when talking about strictly "Potential" (at least not in my definition). That is thought of in a vacuum: How good can the player be AT HIS BEST? Gordon has far better "potential".

I guess that's just how I see it.

You have to, right? I mean, Greg Oden has the potential to be a top 5 center in the NBA next season.

Even so, look at their career numbers. Even 2 years in, Thompson isn't far off Gordon.

Lets not be attached to Gordon just bc he was the main piece of the CP3 deal. Look at his stats. Look at his injury history. (Not saying you are, just a general statement)

I'm not even close to attached to Gordon. I would move him.

I just think that its an uneven trade and factoring in the player we would have to take on to make salaries match, we would have to get more.

I am a fan of both Klay & Barnes but at this point they look like nice complementary pieces to a team. I know Gordon is still a little butt hurt over the way he was handled by the Hornets in free agency, but he is still a top 3 or 4 SG in the NBA.

And from an outsiders perspective, ProBasketballTalk thinks no teams are interested in Gordon and basically GSW should laugh in our face for trying to get Klay:

quote:

And by reluctant, what Golden State is really saying “no %&$#@* way.”

While we’ve blamed a lot of things this trade deadline on the new luxury tax rules, this is not one of them. This is logic.

Gordon is in the first year of a four-year max contract, is coming off missing a lot of games because of his knee, and is shooting just 40.8 percent this season when he does play. He’s been average. Nobody is going to lock themselves into three more years of max salary for that.

A 20 year old rookie and a 2nd year guy? Who knows what they will look like.

We have 5 years of track record on Gordon. People act like he will get so much better
