Pels STH event nightmare

This needs its own thread. Holy shite what a DISASTER. Waited in traffic on Airine for 20 mins. As we get closer we see nobody is turning and driving into the Babycakes parking lot where everyone was told to park.
We finally turn at the light and they have one poor jabron...ONE GUY who has to tell every car to turn around, get back on airline and go to the back entrance of the lot closer to Lasalle park. WHAT THE frick
with the event ending at 830 we said frick THAT and dipped out. Blocking the main parking lot and having one guy telling every car to turn around about 20 feet from Airline causing a huge traffic jam...... COMPLETEY MIND BOGGLING how they handled this. Happy Fan Apprexiation NIGHT

Thought the same thing - total clusterfrick. We were at the intersection around 6:20 for the event that runs from 6:30-8:30. Sat at the intersection for around 20 minutes watching a total traffic jam - a few cars crossing with each light change, blocking the intersection and further backing up traffic down Airline - just so they could be told to turn around. One guy positioned 100 feet down the road telling people to turn around. Why in the frick didn't they just put a sign on the median saying "Pels parking that way"??? So by the time we waited our turn to be told where to go, got to the other parking lot, got on the bus, and got to the facility, it was already past 7:00. We got inside, went and bought an All Star jersey and a Pels ball to get signed, and got in the long line for autographs. Of course, they changed out the players 3 times before we got to the front of the line. Got our ball autographed by Jackson, Miller, and Rondo, and by then it was already around 8:05. Went to get in line for a picture with Mirotic and Hill, and...surprise, surprise...they already closed the line. Walked back to the other corner for a "locker room" photo with Jrue, and that line was already closed at 8:10 as well. My son ended up following two other guys over the rope when the guardians weren't looking and was able to get his picture with Jrue.
I'm guessing this event replaces both the one at the SKC and the one at the practice facility? Last time we went (2 seasons ago) there was one event inside the Pels practice facility and another one that was at the arena. Seemed like this one probably replaces both of those, so I guess we don't get another chance to get more autographs. For a "fan appreciation" event, we got very little out of it.
For comparison, a couple years ago we went and saw Penn & Teller in Las Vegas. At the end of their show, they go stand in the lobby of the showroom and sign autographs and take photos with every single fan until the last one is gone. And they do this EVERY show. For the amount of money these players make, and for the amount of money you dish out for season tickets, this 2-hour event amounted to very little fan "appreciation". That being said, I'm otherwise a very happy and satisfied season ticket holder regarding all other aspects.

Wow! Someone is comparing this organization to Penn&Teller?

No, I’m not. I’m talking about celebrity fan appreciation.
And I’ll give you another example. 2 seasons ago Alonzo Gee walked away from where he was signing autographs to go chat up the attractive face painter. He was ignoring the few people looking for autographs. So I walked over to where he was and asked for an autograph and a picture and he didn’t even get up. At a fan appreciation event. I was thinking, ‘’Bitch, you should be grateful any kid even wants an autograph from your bench-riding arse.’’

Hold on. You sat in traffic for 20 minutes and watched people get turned around and sent to the parking lot 100 feet away. Then, when it was your turn, you still had to make the incorrect turn and be told to go to the parking lot 100 feet away? That 20 minutes of watching the same exact traffic pattern didn't clue you in?

Hahaha, I read that paragraph multiple times trying to figure this same thing out. But Lemmings dood.

No, dumbass. Every now and then they were letting a car through. Didn’t know at first why they were turning people around. And the lot they were sending them to is much further than 100 ft. away. From the turning lane we were in, we could not see where people were going once they got back on Airline. And several times we tried to get out of the turning lane to follow people but simply couldn’t because of the traffic.

I would like to state that I did not turn into the wrong parking lot, and had a blast. I didn’t hinge my enjoyment on me or my kid getting an autograph and simply enjoyed the Q&A session where my daughter asked a question, and the STH pictures with Mirotic.

I didn’t hinge my enjoyment on it either - but I do have a gameroom full of sports and tv memorabilia so a few autographs on a Pels ball is a nice addition. My son was overjoyed to get Rondo’s autograph on the ball, and I was happy to get Darius’ - two of our personal favorites. And since the autograph line was literally 5-10x longer than any other line, I’m guessing other fans enjoy this aspect as well. It was just disappointing that standing in line for an autograph for that long basically meant missing out on everything else. Like I said, a simple sign on the median saying ‘’Pels parking’’ with an arrow would have prevented a big traffic jam and lots of confusion.

I was always pretty irritated how the autograph lines were ran. Last year AD showed up 15 minutes late and left a few minutes earlier than he was scheduled to. I was the 2nd person in line when he left.
I always thought they should have multiple tables. Atleast let people decide who they want to get.

If they had multiple tables, one or two lines would be ridiculously long. You can’t be mad at the organization because everyone flocks for autographs. I asked my kid would she rather stand in line for autographs for an hour or would she rather do everything else. She chose everything else, and we had a wonderful time.
In my opinion you fix the autograph lines by only allowing kids to get autographs. Seeing grown men collect autographs is sad. The only autographs I collect from other men is on a check.

Exactly.
I had a man standing behind me last year who had his young daughter with him, she couldn't have been any older than 8 and even that may be being generous. He bought her a ball and was telling me how she just wants to get as many signatures on it as she can, couldn't careless who signed the ball because at that age she didn't no any different.
That little girl got two signatures. Buddy Hield and Tyreke Evans I believe were the two. That to me was sad.

Little kids not getting autographs sucks. Boot all of the adults and just let the kids get stuff signed and that problrm would be reduced. My daughter, 8, just didn’t care about that aspect. She wanted to welcome Mirotic to NOLA, and do cartwheels, and get her face painted, and play games, and talk to our rep (who adores my daughter), and eat chicken fingers.
She got to do all of those things so we had a lot of fun.
