Ja Morant Met With Pelicans, Grizzlies, Knicks At Combine
MAY 16, 2019 1:10 PM

Ja Morant met with the New Orleans Pelicans, Memphis Grizzlies and New York Knicks at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago.

The Pelicans, Grizzlies and Knicks own the top-3 picks in that order.

Morant is widely expected to be selected by the Grizzlies at No. 2.

Gotta do the due diligence on the very off chance he falls to 3.

I'm sure there is a universe in which the potential exists for some kind of side-deal between the Knicks and Grizz if the Pels coerce New York into trading one slot up and/or the Pels use some of what they get to move from #3 to #2.

I really feel that Morant is the best player in this draft. Not saying Zion will be a bust but he is like another Blake Griffin. Out of this world athlete but doesn’t translate into championships

Met with Culver, Naz Reid, and Jaxson Hayes as well.

You meet with everyone. Because like I pointed out, 70 percent of these guys will be on a different team in 4 or 5 years and they could be your team

I honestly believe it's going to be how lillard/Davis rookie year plays out.

The guard on a bad team that handles the ball a ton wins over the efficient second option player.

Down the line, it's obvious who's better.

I don't think it will be that close, because I could actually see a debate for Lillard over AD.

To me, this is more like D'Angelo Russell vs Giannis.

But I think there is a good debate to be had around which parts are easier to get - the parts you would need to put a successful team around a very good offensive guard or the parts around a very good two way big.

Because, if you say the former,.you can make a solid argument that yes the big is better in a vacuum but I can go get quality big men for far cheaper than you can go get quality perimeter guys. And that makes it easier for me to build a better team, even though the player you have is superior

That COULD be a solid argument if these two were close. They are not. And I LOVE Ja. But we are talking about an MVP candidate almost every year in his prime barring injury vs a guy who will miss All NBA teams more often than he makes them in his prime

Sounds like Memphis is already set on taking Ja, as they should be.
