They only have $45 mil on the books next year
LINK

The team says they will match any offer
LINK

quote:

“We’re trying to sign Paul,” Larry Bird told 1070 The Fan, Indianapolis. “It’s not as easy as it looks. We’re going to make a major offer to him. It’s going to be up to him whether he accept or not or goes out into the free-agency market. If he does, we’re going to match.

Therefore, I think they can and will match.

Even if they were pressed for money (which they won't be), it wouldn't be the 23 y/o All-Star that they decide to deal.

If they really don't want to let him go, we can workout a sign a trade or something. George fits the bill of Dell's young but talented veterans philosophy, I am very confident Dell will do something similar to what he did with Tyreke.

You really need to drop this hope right now. It isn't happening. Indiana isn't letting him go.

Philly dealt Jrue, a 22 y/o All-Star.

You do realize he's a restricted FA next year right? If the Pels matched a max offer on EG, do you really think Indiana would not match? You really think they would trade trade George away? Especially with Granger becoming an UFA? Show me the package you're putting together for George.

Once again, Aminu.

You clearly don't understand how NBA transactions take place. I suggest you go and actually learn about the salary cap, free agency, etc. because you're just shooting shite out your arse right now.

Philly is just trying to become fricking terrible to maybe get Wiggins. The Pacers are trying to win.

I would offer EG and a role player. George and Gordon are entirely two different scenarios. Hornets had money for Gordon, Pacers will not if we put in the poison pill.

The poison pill is for players like Asik and Lin who teams don't want to pay $15m for. The Pacers won't mind paying the $15m for Paul George. Let the dream die.

I really am glad that you are excited about the Pels. Excited enough to start a TD account. But can you please atleast do a tiny bit of research before you start throwing out what if scenarios like they are probable. Welcome aboard!

I don't think you guys really understand how the poison pill works. With George's contract the would go into the luxary tax. If you put in a poison pill, they could end up paying George 22+ million dollars per year. They wouldnt do that.

I was thinking that too, but I'm not sure if he would want to come to a small market team like us.
