To my knowledge, the last team seeded 6th or lower to sweep a series was Charotte in 2001. At the time, 1st round was best of 5. So no team seeded 6 or lower has ever swept a 7 game series.
Let’s flappin go!!!

ETA: Blazers are actually healthy, so this is no big break for us.

Sorry if germans

Well considering we've only won one playoff series ever...

Also considering 2001 Charlotte Hornets are technically our franchise. Current Hornets are expansion team

pretty sure that when we gave Charlotte the "Hornets" name back, all the franchise history prior to their move to NOLA also went back to Charlotte

the New Orleans Pelicans existence retroactively begins when the Hornets moved to New Orleans

Similar to Browns/Ravens situation. Would be awesome if we’d have as much success as the latter has

Well this would be news to me... Fairly certain that the franchise moved from Charlotte to New Orleans. Then the Charlotte Bobcats joined the league. NO Hornets rebranded to Pelicans. A couple years later, Bobcats rebranded to Hornets.
If this isn’t correct, then I don’t even care to know anymore.

As wrapped up as everyone is, myself included, about the possible sweep, it's almost lost that a W will make for our 9th in a row. One shy of tying our best streak record. Again.

But I'd really like the sweep.

I’m a lifelong Saints fan and season ticket holder, but If the Pelicans ever win a championship I think I would be more emotional than a Super Bowl win, only because of all the shite we’ve been through, the small fan base, seeing half-filled buildings, etc. GO PELS!

It is correct but we gave them their history back. That’s true too.

the way I understand it is basically there's only the Charlotte Hornets and New Orleans Pelicans

the Pelicans "officially" came into existence the 1st year the Hornets played in New Orleans to now

the Charlotte Hornets begin when they originally came to existence in the 80s, then, now "officially", ceased operations from when they moved to NOLA until the Bobcats were formed... then the "Hornets" history picks back up with the Bobcats first season

While true, when the Bobcats were renamed the Hornets we gave them all of the records from the original Charlotte Hornets.

Such bullshite that the Jazz got to keep the team name.

Benson should have demanded that when he purchased the team.

New Orleans basketball history should include the New Orleans Jazz

While the term "Jazz" is more synonymous with New Orleans than Utah, the Jazz NBA franchise is much more Utah than it is New Orleans. Benson would have had no right to demand Utah give up a name that it has had since 1979.
