Pelicans expecting a decision on Eric Gordon in next few days

When Gordon talked to reporters last week, he acknowledged surgery was a distinct possibility.
"We'll see," Gordon said. "It's a full tear. I still have a labrum. But it's tough for any athlete to deal with that.
"If I keep on playing, it's going to be a lingering issue. This thing doesn't heal all the way correctly, I've heard, unless surgery happens. I don't know, it's still hard to determine right now."
Losing Gordon for the remainder of the season would be a devastating blow for a Pelicans team that already lacks depth.
But if Gordon, whose salary is $14.9 million this season, can't return this season, the Pelicans could petition the NBA for a disabled player exception. The exception would allow the Pelicans to sign a player to a one-year contract at a salary up to $5.3 million or trade for a player on the last year of a contract up to $5.4 million without sending back any compensation.
Surgery sounds like a better option for Gordon at this point. He's still dealing with lingering knee issues. Why try to play through this and deal with lingering shoulder issues? I know it will hurt his reputation as being injury-prone even more, but at this point I don't think it matters.
Hope he gets well soon, whatever he decides.
If we do apply for a disabled player exception, what are our options?

He hasn't been missing games due to his knees this season, but he is more prone to future knee problems than others. From what I read on his injury reports last season, his knees won't ever be 100% again. Fragile/tender/lack of support.

gordon hasn't missed any games this season due to his knees. pretty sure the game he missed was due to lower back soreness.

D Rose. He was medically cleared to play and avoids playing.
Eric Gordon is just made of glass, but plays when he gets the okay from docs to play.

I hate to be that guy but how you think he feels. Every time he starts to get better he gets another injury

Eric Gordon is done. I hate to say it, but man, his body has taken a beating.
I'm not a hater on Gordon at all. Just looking at his situation straight up. Geez, at some point he's got to know that the gig is up.

I have bashed Sandy more than most, but this isn't on him. A torn labrum is no joke, and its possible that he will never fully return.
