example: all American Coleman of Syracuse. taken #3 overall by gsw which they got by dumping Mitch Richmond.
coleman never grasped that shooting on the move makes every shot different, the opposite of a predictable shot form. he became good not great. he didn't figure out how to get into best shooting form off the dribble.
the other common issue guys have is a too flat mid to long shot. they never rework for a higher arc.
care to say why you re so sure DD becomes a shooter?
Not OP but i think he can definitely become a good, not great shooter. Like 35-37% from 3. His form looks good, he has good touch on floaters and is apparently a hard worker and has been putting in the hours with fred. I dont think he'll become some lights out knock down shooter but i think he'll be just fine

Good opening win, first takes … Pels are going run more to keep up with Zion, rotation minutes can run 12 deep, Pels have their own Aussie version of Simmons.

B/c it's obvious he has a high IQ already, and his form already looks really good. You can tell just from watching him shoot FT's. He's also already confident in his game, which goes a long way. You could see it with Lonzo early on. You could tell when he felt confident and when he didn't. You didn't need to see him actually make or miss a shot to know if he felt confident he'd make it.
I also feel confident in our coaches teaching him what's a good shot and what's not.

Nothing is a guarantee but you already listed some of the reasons.

The above are all things DD has acknowledged and we already see improvement from compared to his G League days.
He has a willingness to learn and re-learn. Which is one of the biggest stumbling blocks when trying to improve players as shooters. Instead of relearning all the muscle memory and technical details, they tend to just try and do more and more repetition with the bad habits they had developed. DD has done the opposite.

Stop the presses. Who knew.

quote:When I say DD will improve his shot, I mean that he will statistically get a little better as he ages. He is still growing as well which is hard for someone trying to get consistency with their shot. In 3 years, I believe that he wont be shooting sub 20% from deep which is maybe what we’ll see this year. Getting him up to 30% from deep in a few years can and will be huge considering thats not the strength of why we drafted him.

If Vinson can fix the worst shot I've ever seen in the league (Lonzo) he can fix Dyson if Dyson stays as committed.
