Man haven't been able to keep up with the hornets as much as i would like since leaving the country, but cannot tell you how pumped I am to be getting a guy like Davis. Future looks bright boys, lets enjoy the ride

I'm confused, how do the balls work exactly? Does the first pick come first? Should we have had the 1st and 3rd picks instead of 1st and 10th?!??!

each team has a set amount of 4 ball combinations
Charlotte had 250
Washington had 199
We had 137
etc
they compare the balls that come out to a chart that has all he combinations listed.
first four ball combinations wins #1 pick I believe. But it is possible that we could have had a 2nd 4 number combination which would not count.
The more I think about it, the more confused I get, so I hope that explains it...
Edit for clarity

The first 3 win. What I heard on the radio this morning the first 4 number combo drawn belonged to the Hornets. The 2nd one belonged to Charlotte. The 3rd and 4th went NOLA and Charlotte again so a 5th draw was required to decide who got the #3 spot.

I meant 4 balls=1 team
not 4 teams
not 4 teams

Stern wanted us to have 1 and 3

That 2nd Hornet ball chosen was of the combinations of the pick already taken, not of the 10th pick. I guess it had to be the certain 10th pick ball for us to have had the 3rd pick, not just any hornet ball.

Right. Did anyone happen to catch the behind the scenes (around 7 pm)? They showed the chart I was talking about that had everyone's number combos on it. Pretty cool stuff.

I'm sure that each team is only allowed one pick per round.
That is to say our 2nd pick didn't count because although we technically had 2 lottery picks we were waiting on a Minnesota combo to be drawn.
Did that make sense? It sounded better in my head. Haha.

FWIW, this was my FB status 50 hours before the draft:
"in 50 hours:
NBA official announcer guy: "The number two pick in the 2012 NBA draft will be going to (opens envelope)...the Charlotte Bobcats, and that means the New Orleans Hornets will be picking first in this year's draft."
