Absolutely agree, almost any deal for CP3, should include Okafor, unless paid a premium to not include him..IE..a contender overpaying in the form of future draft picks as to not be saddled with EO.
Totally agree with this

How about this one:
Hawks get:
Chris Paul, Peja Stojakovic
Hornets get:
Josh Smith, Jamal Crawford, Jeff Teague
Successful in the trade machine.

CP3 to the Yankees for Derek Jeter & prospects.
Trade prospects, Okafor and Peja to Pittsburgh for Rashard Mendenhall and Sidney Crosby. And Dave Wannstedt.
Win win for everybody.

CP3 for Jrue Holliday and Iggy works as well.

Trade Paul AND Thornton?
That would cause the biggest meltdown in MSB history.

Both teams would be instantly better.

Hornets get:
Wilson Chandler, Anthony Randolph, Kelenna Azubuike, Ronny Turiaf

Gallinari has a Team Option in 11/12 and a Qualifying Offer in 12/13.
Chandler has a Qualifying Offer in 11/12.
Randolph has TO in 11/12 and a QO in 12/13.
So we would have those guys rights for 2-3 years.
You would pay Curry not to play and expire.
I would do CP + EO for Randolph, Chandler, Gall, Curry in a heartbeat.

If any trade talks were to go down between the Knicks and Hornets, the conversation would start in between these two points:
Knicks' ideal: Chris Paul for Wilson Chandler, Anthony Randolph, Toney Douglas, and Eddy Curry
(Knicks don't want to take back EO's contract to preserve cap space to make run at Melo in 2011. Knicks will have to part with Gallo or Randolph and would prefer to keep Gallo.)
or
Hornets' ideal: Paul and Okafor for Danilo Gallonari, Ronny Turiaf, Toney Douglas, Wilson Chandler, and Eddy Curry
(Not sure how much trading Paul is contingent on packaging him with Okafor. I'd bet that's a huge factor and the Knicks are one of the only teams that can afford to take back EO's ginormous contract. Gallo would be an ideal replacement for Peja. Turiaf replaces Okafor. Chandler and Toney provide depth. Curry's contract FYI is now an asset since it expires.)

This I like. I'd really want Randolph and the rest of the parts involved, such as Chandler, Azubuike, and Turiaf, seem decent enough.

Right on FunBunch. Most of those young Knicks players have very cheap multiyear contracts (Gallo, Chandler, Toney, Randolph).
Two issues with a Knicks-Hornets trade:
(1) One thing the Knicks will not do is trade both of their most talented young prospects Gallinari (22 yrs old) and Randolph (21). It's one or the other. I think Randolph to the Hornets works out best for both sides.
(2) the Knicks won't be willing to trade Curry's expiring AND take back Okafor's 4-year 50+ mil. If the Knicks get Emeka, they will want to keep Curry and let him sit to give them enough cap space for a max free agent next year.
I still think there are enough other assets on the Knicks side to make them a better option than LA, Orlando and Dallas. Portland it depends. However, I think NY's willingness to take back Okafor's monstrosity of a contract might be the dealbreaker.
