It bears noting that Paul has no power to choose his destination. His contract does not include a no-trade clause (they are rare in the N.B.A.), which means he has no veto power. The Hornets would therefore be free to make the best deal for themselves, irrespective of Paul’s wishes.

Trade to someone like Toronto or Minnesota, don't let CP3 decide where he can go

and piss off every player who means something in the NBA

what player would willingly choose to sign with the franchise who trades their best player to a destination he would hate out of spite?

Hopefully the rookies are good enough to give us some hope.

they should do what gives them the best deal, i doubt it would be out of spite.

and most players dont sign with a team thinking "if i ever get traded from here, they are gonna frick me!!!!"

i think this offseason should show that the elite guys all talk together and are friends off the court

who was the last major free agent a team like the clippers signed? baron davis, the pariah?

and that was only b/c they had brand, who recruited davis (and then left him, in one of the true underrated betrayals in NBA history), and davis is from la and wanted to start making movies

considering CP3 is trying to screw the Hornets out of spite that he's not with a LeBron or Kobe, the Hornets need to look out for #1 and that's not CP3

The Hornets arent signing an elite guy regardless. So you get the best deal you can for Paul regardless of where its at

No team that the player being traded doesn't want to go to is going to give up assets to bring in a guy who's only under contract for 2 years. Especially a place like Minnesota or Toronto where he'd obviously be miserable and sulk/throw a bitch fit like he is here.

Secondly, the types of teams that would trade for a guy like Paul who is only under contract for two years are the teams that feel like they are legitimately one player away from being a contender. New York is the unique exception since they are marquee team in a marquee market that suck right now, but would easily lure free agents w/ Paul and Stoudamire.

Who says the Hornets won't win this season? Can CP3 predict the future? Of course, it will be alot more difficult to win without CP3

the clips are just known for not taking care of players and trading them looking out for the clips alone

the only guy i can remember them doing a favor to was odom, who begged to be traded to get away from la and the shite that was getting him in trouble

31 teams aren't going to win a nba title this season only one can win, just because he might go to NY doesn't mean they are going to be any better than where he already is

once you trade a player, he is no longer yours, thus you aren't inclined to take care of him. Esp one that asks for a trade.

I dont think the Hornets are anywhere close to what the Clippers have experienced over the last 10-15 years.

I just cant see players shying away because they didnt trade CP3 to a place he wanted to go. That just sounds silly all the way around

trading him to toronto or minnesota, places he almost assuredly does not want to go to, is what i'm talking about
