He’s scoring more than Herb last year at the same fg%. No one thought that was possible last year by the comments. But hey let’s double down on stupidity.

He's a better defending, worse shooting Lonzo. That's kind of what we had pegged him at becoming.

When this team's biggest need is/was PG and you already have Herb locked up cheaper than what Dyson will likely get on his 2nd contract, you still take the guy who was a 21/9/8 All Star PG every time.

We agree that Dyson is a good player but I'm going to disagree that they Pels shouldn't have traded him. He was stuck behind the Pels logjam of wings. His value was not going to get better and his spot on the depth chart was not going to improve much. It would end up being a Lonzo situation all over again if you kept him. For once Griff actually traded high and that's the one you piss and moan about.

Cut the rudimentary stats out.

Herb was a far better 3pt shooter last year and a far better ft shooter. That matters in the nba

And the same pundits were roasting the Hawks when the trade happened. Look it up.

The trade looks horrible because Herb and Dejounte both had season ending injuries while Dyson took a step forward. Of course Dyson was a real prospect. That's the only reason ATL would make that trade after the ransom they gave up to get Murray from San Antonio.

The only fair criticism I may make is that the Hawks were initially hot for Herb. I argued at the time that having Dyson on the roster allowed you to consider trading Herb, but only if the deal included Okongwu, solving the Pels problem at center. It looked like Atlanta wanted Herb so much to pair with Trey that they might do a deal taking Brandon & Herb for Murray & Okongwu. I would have made that deal.

DD: 7.7mil next year to Herb's 13.9mil
the following year, he will be a FA (age 23) and Herb will be in his last year costing 14.9mil (age 28)

It'll be interesting to see what DD's value is going to be.

at 4/120mil (30mil annual) would that still be preferable to Herb's even at their age at the time?

I love DD, but he’ll never win DPOY because people who actually watch the games know that he’s actually a very mid on ball defender. He gets his “stocks” from lane steals and help side/chase down blocks. He’s a good defender for that reason. But won’t ever win DOY unless and until his on ball defense matches his help side defense.

you loved the trade

I'm glad we at least tried something. You win some, you lose some (except Griff, he just seems to lose)

He wanted out. Dude is a great defender who will stay in the league for a long time being a shutdown wing, even if he doesn’t advance his scoring numbers.

Dmurray wanted out too. Was a gamble that still allowed griff to juggle zion\bi\mc. I hate it for pels but dd wasn’t playing injury chairs anymore. So good for dd.

Where was I wrong? I guess we’ll see if he’s voted DPOY, since he’s “…already the best perimeter defensive player in the league”

Came out 2nd, highest perimeter defender voted in the league.

Townedrunkard was right on the money once again…..
