I saw a report this morning that Durant is considering retirement, if he's not traded. Nets might call his bluff..

KD retiring to break his contract and come here without us giving up assets is the only way he joins this team. You should be happy, what you want might happen if that occurs But we're not trading anything for him.

I don't want Durant. I just acknowledge that he would make us better. I think it is a fascinating story that has the potential to change the whole narrative of the season and possibly the league. He is never being released out of that contract. I don't think that is a thing. So he either plays or they trade him. He is intentionally trying to destroy his value to get to a team he wants (Miami or Phoenix)..

Brandon Ingram will very likely never be as good at any point in his career as KD will be next season. And that’s not a knock. BI can be a Perennial all star and still not come particularly close to current day Durant.

1. maybe so.

2. its very likely that during the peak physical maturity of ingram age 27 to 29 Durant is retired.

the bet is three parts.
1. what upside.
does the immediate addition of Durant make pels a contender to win it all 2023? I say yes but
not a sure thing.
in the mix, along with
cp3 suns and curry gsw and clips kahwi.
since pels bench Pg and bench bigs are not much they could get beat by memphis in the 4 v 5 before they even see gsw suns clips round 2.

2 how many seasons is Durant better?
what age does Durant become less than ingram. 36?
3 what is Ingrams ceiling.

I agree Durant is better.
ingram will be available for 6 more years after Durant hangs it up.
the west is so good even adding Durant may not get pels out of round 2.
but pels can win it all just as they are.
not likely but possible.

BI getting 22-24 ppg for the next 8 years is not that big of a discount to KD getting 27 ppg for the next two years and then regressing to be a 3 and D guy as his legs can’t keep up any more.

Nobody is disputing that KD is the better player today. Does he give us a better shot at a championship? Only if we don’t have to give up anyone but Kira, Hayes, Temple and the end of the bench

You rightfully mentioned that injury luck is very important to winning a championship. What have we seen out of KD to suggest he will not have multiple injuries the next few years as he gets older and older?

Let’s keep our three All Stars along with Jones and JV and young guys like Murphy, Daniels and Jose. Keep adding picks for the next few years as some guys get too expensive. This franchise can not afford to go all in; miss and then have to rebuild.

How does this title work? Do you actually have to make it that season or have ever been in it at all?

Can Brook Lopez call himself an all star?

Zion and BI have both been in All Star games the past couple of years. Inexplicably CJ has not even though he has averaged over 20ppg six times.

Brooks Lopez? What point are you trying to make here? I’m not talking about 38yr old Carmelo Anthony. I’m talking about three guys who are all 20ppg proven players in this league who can get there own shot when they want to. Those are All Stars. Not defensive specialists or 3@D guys who can not handle the ball or get a basket on their own.

I think All Stars are guys that have been on an all star team and pretty recently, within a season or two..

Sure. I guess. I really don't know the rules of that. I am pretty sure Ingram might make another one. I just dont know how long a player gets to keep the label..

So if healthy, you question if Zion will be a perennial all star?

If healthy, you question if BI will be at least a borderline all star. Guys drafted 1st and 2nd in the NBA draft.

I know you try to adopt an odd contrarian take here, but what team in the league has two guys under 27 in the league better than those two? Boston? Minnesota?

I just know that he and Ingram were not All Stars last year. Ingram wasn't one the year before either.

I don't know people keep using the term "All Star" to describe guys that weren't that last season or ever. It's not necessary and it's trying to drive home a point that doesn't need to be made and isn't true to begin with.

Why are you giving me homework and what does this have to do with anything?

I don't know, the Suns, Cavs, Grizz?

Not to say, but if the Pelicans called the Mavs and offered Ingram and Zion for Doncic, do you think they do it?

The only reason Ingram missed All NBA and All Star was injuries last year.

He’s a top 20 player.

Same with Kawhi Leonard.
