Larry is smart, but I believe that title belongs to Herb Jones.

I mean you yourself in that thread said you had been pushing for him to start/finish/get as many or more minutes for over a year...

I've been asking for it on this board for over a year

JV doesn't have to lose many, if any, minutes. And Val can increase his usage by being more of a feature in the offense against bench units.

But also, 2 months ago Larry was in the midst of a span of averaging almost 10ppg in 20 minutes per game.

Since then, over the last 23 games, Larry is averaging 5 mpg in 22 minutes.

So, a lot changes in 2 months. Larry is a shell of the dude he was 2 months ago.

Larry had about a 8 game stretch where he looked good after he came back from his injury. Don't act like he was on some long impressive span of good play deserving of a starter/closer/more minute spot over JV. All he's done is resort back to the player he was before everyone went crazy over his little impressive stretch. He started the season playing awful (worse than he is now) and he's just back to what he was before that short run of good play.

Larry was a shell of that player before then too.

2 things. First, this is not correct at all, quite the opposite other than starting. What I've said for 2 years is the same thing, very consistent. I push for Nance to start, so Val can be featured more without Bi/Zion/CJ lineups, and for Val, not Nance, to still close.

Nance starts, but Val should keep his same minutes per game, still close, and get even more usage, that is the argument I've made for over a year.

Second. That was 2 months ago Nance.Current Nance is a shell of 2 months ago Nance. 2 months ago Nance I was more than happy getting 20-22 minutes a night. Current Nance, should not be getting even more minutes than that.

I never wanted Nance to start over Val because I felt Nance "deserved" it. It was, as I've stated many times, so we can get even more Val usage. I don't think you're picking up what I'm saying.

Val starts, that means he plays with Zion/CJ/BI...he's not getting much usage. Nance starts, Val can check in when 2 of the big 3 go to the bench, and now Val gets more usage. Val keeps his same minute per game, Val still will close, and now Val gets more usage. I wanted Nance to start over Val because Val deserves more usage, and that's the way to do it.

Nance had a 15 game span averaging 9ppg, and since then, a 25 game span averaging 5ppg. Let's not pretend the way he's playing now is how he's consistently played all season. He's much worse now than he was when he first came back from injury. Problem is, he's at his worse and THAT is the time that Willie decides to play him the most and in the biggest moments.

Over the last 10 games, Nance is averaging 25mpg. Before that, he logged at least 25 minutes in a game a total of 3 times in 44 previous games this season. Nothing Willie is doing right now makes sense. Larry gets worse, Larry plays more and finishes more.

Larry is awful. I refuse to believe JV is a worse option. Larry is a waste of space when he's on the court, he just gets some cardio in. At least JV can give you something on offense

He’s not done, he just can’t be counted on to play huge meaningful minutes. He’s a great backup small ball center but that’s all he is. Willie has been playing him against big centers too though and that’s just not his game. Jonas has played much better defense this year so I think he needs to be rewarded more than he is.
