Sounds like Cleveland is gonna buy him out. Should we? He lacks defense, but a big who can space the floor could definitely help. Also have no idea with we have the cap space to bring him on for the rest of season.

We dont have a roster spot - we would have to cut someone.

But he is tight with DG so its possible they have a serious conversation about it, if we wanted him

Shame, he would be a nice bench player in place of someone like Temple.

He's not good any more, and zero chance he'd want to come here.

He's shooting 39% from the field and 35% from, so a bit better than Devonte Graham in terms of scoring efficiency.

Nah, K-Love has some left in the tank just was so burnt out from the Cleveland environment.

He was a casualty to the post LeBron situation there....

He benefited big time by getting that "last big deal" that he likely wouldn't have gotten elsewhere, but the last 2-3 years he's been in purgatory in a way...but also at the same time watching the remainder of his career slip away....

I think he hops on a serious title contender...plays a bench role where he can be a Vet trusted guy come playoff time to help you out.

Off top of my head without rumors that likely are already out there I think fits are:

-BOS (they have Blake Griffin for this role though)
-PHX
-GS (makes a ton of sense - D-West style)
-LAL (lebron fit)
-LAC (LA/West Coast fit)
-POR (Finally go back "home"?)

All other options could make sense, but would just be "weird" fits....like Memphis would be odd, but make sense in a way?

These guys getting bought out by a contender are not what our target should be

The best buyout candidates are the guys who got traded to a bad team that has no use for them, or guys from teams where they stop playing them so they can tank

Kevin Love, Serge Ibaka, etc. That's not it

Wasn’t he runner up to 6MOY?

Maybe…

He can def fit a role on a serious contender… not so much your “young and up and coming team” like grizz/Pels/jazz etc.

Not sure but if he was, he's nowhere near that level of play this season.

The Pels are a serious contender when healthy.

These buy out vets are generally going to sign a 1 year deal and see how it plays out, but usually with a legit contender.

We are simply not going to be a legit title contender this year, healthy or not. We're not coming from the 6 or 7 seed to win a title, that's not happening.

If healthy, we wouldn’t be a 6th or 7th seed. 4th seed at worst.

Point is, we're not and won't be for a while. And even if we happen to get fully healthy by mid March or whenever before the end of the season, that fully healthy team isn't close to a contender. That's the reality.

Do you consider the Heat a contender moreso than the Pelicans?

I don't think either team is really in a position to do a comparison of each with respect to their contender status.

But if pressed, i'd answer yes mainly because none of their best 3 players are currently injured and out for as long as our best player. That alone allows them more hope to go on a run and climb the standings to get to a respectable spot where a title is possible(I don't think it is or is possible fwiw) whereas I don't see us playing great ball at a level needed until Zion gets back, at which point is probably too late to make that similar climb up the standings.

They do have the 9th toughest schedule remaining to our 28th toughest, but again, without Zion, that doesn't matter quite as much IMO. I'd MUCH rather have our best 3 players and play the 9th toughest schedule going forward.

Yes. An established winning culture that is a few years removed from a finals appearance.

But… they are trending in the wrong direction in my opinion, and I don’t think any of those guys would help them get “over the hump”.

He wants a contender, so that rules out NOLA.
