We could do a it worse. He’s a stretch 5 but holds his own rebounding and he can space the floor with his shooting. I’d feel a lot better about our situation at center if we could bring him back to New Orleans. It’s slim pickings out there but we need to add someone at the 5 because Hunter Dickinson plays like he has cement blocks in his shoes.

This shows how far this franchise has fallen. Fans actually hoping we sign Kelly freaking Olynk. I swear Dumars makes Griff look like Pat Riley next to him

I agree, its sad. We should have gone hard after Marvin Bagley III. I think he would have been the best option on the free agent market for what we need in a #2 center. Where’s Willy Hernangomez when you need him? Lol

It’s really Olynyk or Drew Eubanks at this point unless a trade gets made soon after the LeBron drama ends

I think this is the most likely scenario, as there’s still rumors out there they are sniffing around wings like Kuminga. I think the teams in on Lebron also have something lined up for Trey/Herb if they miss out on him, or if they land him in Cleveland’s case (they would need Herb)

I dont think James should be allowed to sign for the minimum. He should have to sign for at least the full exception (15M). There are only a handful of teams that he can do that with, one being the Warriors. Its not fair otherwise..

I mean, he’s no Gary Trent Jr.

He made over 50M last year, and is still regarded as a top 30 player (top 50 at the worst). Even on a one year deal, his value should be well over 25M a year. Him signing for less than 7M is crazy and should be blocked. If he came to the Pelicans right now, he's probably our best player this year, and we have 4 guys over 25M a year. This isn't even considering his off the court value. The league and union stood take a stand on this..

Who would be our best player? Gary Trent Jr? I assume that was satire. I have no idea how he got so much money compared to his production. There’s something not right with that deal, he should be making no more than $7 million a year.

What are you talking about?

I'm talking about Lebron James. He might be signing a minimum deal, making less than 50M a year. That just shouldn't be allowed. I don't care if he is a billionaire. He should be restricted to a certain level of contract. I didn't say anything about the Trent deal (which is obviously negotiated under the table)..

My bad. I stated the wrong thing in my last post too. It's "5M", not 50M. He might sign a vet minimum deal with the Heat, and that's like 3.9M/year. I can't think of anyone ever taking that kind of cut in pay to ring chase, or whatever he is trying to do. He can literally get 30+M to sign with the Nets, but he'd rather take 3M to play for the Heat?

Would seem Turner and Gafford are the most "available" options. If we can convince Bucks to take Poole to get off of Turner's contract, that would save us enough under the tax to go after Kuminga if they want him.

Also, how badly does Dallas want to get off of Gafford's deal? Would a 3 team deal with Warriors and Mavs work? Something like Poole to Dallas, Thompson to GS (with a future 2nd from Pels), and Moody and Gafford to Pels? Both deals obviously contingent on Mavs (or Bucks in post above) wanting to shed contracts for Poole's expiring deal.
