With his five-year $126m contract, Jrue Holiday now becomes the 6th highest paid PG in the NBA. Only Steph Curry, Mike Conley Jr., Russell Westbrook, Damian Lillard and Chris Paul will earn more during the 2017-18 season. The rank could change with Kyle Lowry still on the FA board. Bobby Marks, ESPN

How many PG's would you take before Jrue?
I'm going with 11

Westbrook,Curry,CP3,Thomas, Lowry,Wall,Kyrie,Kemba, Lilliard, Conley,Bledsoe..

And 3 that are close in the same discussion with Jrue: Hill,Dragic,Teague..

Only ranking guys that have already played in the NBA, not rookies.

Point being, not sure, other then Lowry if we had any other opportunities to upgrade the position and how much of a upgrade would that be if any? Realize 5/126 is a ton but looks like it was our best option on PG.

Thoughts?

Every one of the guys listed in your first group will sign bigger, in some cases much bigger, contracts. The only exception may be Bledsoe because of his injury history.

I understand some people will point to Teague's deal and say Jrue's deal was an overpay and that has some validity. However,as you pointed out, once other guys sign under the new cap it won't be a terrible overpay. Now, Dell has to figure out the rest of this roster to maximize the three guys we have big money invested in.

This is meaningless, most of those guys have yet to sign their huge deals. This is like the Quarterback becoming the highest paid player in NFL history

Last year Mike Conley was the highest paid player in the league. This is what happens when the cap is basically going to double over a 5 year period. We are in the early part of the cap increase. I'm not saying Holiday isn't overpaid, but you need to wait another 2 years before you're actually comparing apples to apples.

It honestly could have been higher. The Pels hands were tied on this one. While I'm not thrilled (we never were going to be thrilled) this was the best realistic move.

Sure we could have gone after Lowry but we would have given the max to a 31 year old point guard. The rest of those players you mentioned, we would never have a shot of getting (except for Bledsoe)

Holiday is not looking out for the team. Steph Curry took a 5 year 201 million deal. That's 5 million per less.

Everyone will change their tune once all of these players get those 200+ million dollar contracts in the next couple of years.

Wow such courage. Such bravery. Still terrible facial hair

Also I don't care what anyone says, but 90-95% of players care about the money most. One thing is certain, Jrue doesn't have an unhealthy care for money. You want to talk about not looking out for the team? Exhibit A, Carmelo. Exhibit B, Blake Griffin.

For him to take a team friendly deal and this is what it looks like says a lot about him.

do you know what 200/5 is?

do you know what 125/5 is?

in what world is 25, 5 more than 40?

I think the Jrue deal was pretty team friendly. But I also don't fault Jrue for trying to get as much as he can. Not to mention agents want to get better salaries for their clients.

Also consider that if Curry doesn't do that, their team that just won the NBA finals cannot retain players. So Curry thinks do I want my money? Or do I want another championship? I think both are selfish motives. I can't blame Curry for thinking that way but I don't think it makes him more of a "team player"

Seeing it now as steph getting 40 million a year. There's no way they keep Draymond and Klay in a couple year when they are up for new contracts. Right?

I was completely screwed up in the numbers which threw this thread completely off.

As I understand now it's

Jrue 5 year 126 million
Steph 5 year 201 million

I'll take Jrues anyday. I don't see the warriors making it past another 2 years when Klay and Draymond need new contracts. I'm sure Davis and Cousins will end with contracts similar to Durant and Curry.

Espn is reporting that wall has been offered a 4 year 170 million extention. I think we did just fine
