That’s a lot of change there. Assets are important for trades as well as for building depth. We have some assets but the way the Pelicans are trending and the Lakers could be on top of the West for a couple of years, the draft capital isn’t going to be that attractive for trades.

The Pelicans would need some quality draft capital to lure a top tier player away from their respective teams.

We don't need a top tier player..

We have Zion and Ingram. That's your top players.

You need complimentary players around those 2, while keeping your main core together.

The assets we have are exactly the type needed for that.

The way these guys are improving, their contracts are going to reflect their improvements. When Lonzo give you a solid 15/10/5/1 next season, he won’t come cheap and when Hart continues to play the way he plays through next season, he’s going to be sought after. These guys will look infinitely better next year and their price will only go up.

My only negative feelings of this team right now.

I’m really enjoying the last few months, but there will be a time in the near future where at least one of our favorites will no longer be with us because they became unaffordable.

Jrue will want another substantial payday
Ingram obviously getting the max
Zo will get a substantial raise
Hart will probably command double or triple whatever he is slated to make next year.

They’ll need a top tier guard once the Holiday Era is over to pair with Ball. I don’t see that ever changing as long as Ball is on the team.

Not really.

A Luke Kennard/Caris Levert type is all we would need.

A guy that's plays good/great defense that can hit the 3 at ~40%, and wont command a big deal.

Ball, Ingram and Zion can handle playmaking duties

I would love to have a team of 5 Harts.

I would even put him in the category of taking over at the 2 post Jrue, but I want him staying in the exact role he is in currently

Moore comes off the books, Miller comes off the books, and Favors isn’t getting 20/mil year unless it’s on a short deal.

Not speaking to you, but in general on this board, I have no idea why so many people want to get rid of guys like Favors/Holiday when we have so many mouths to feed. Lonzo, Ingram, and Zion all need the ball in their hands. You have two guys around them that will give you excellent defense night-in, night-out regardless of touches.

If holiday wants a 35-40/year deal, hopefully the management knows that going into the offseason. That’s unrealistic. I just can’t imagine finding a better 5 than Favors for what he will likely cost the team.

Jrue isn’t going to go from making ~26 mil a year to wanting 35-40 at age 32 in 2022.

Check this quote from reddit in reference to whether the 76ers should trade Embiid for Jrue and picks:

When Jrue signed his last contract, his health was still a question mark. The most games he’d played in a season for us was 67 the year before the contract. If we had to ink him after the 17-18 season (and his complete destruction of Dame/CJ), we likely have to max him.

The only thing that may work in the Pels favor is how loaded the 2021 FA class is. It’s bananas. If he was an UFA this offseason, the Pels would be in a very tough spot as he’d be one of a few true difference makers in the class.

Jrue staying here will likely require him to take a “fair” deal from the Pelicans and spurn the wads of cash thrown at him by desperate teams. His game is not predicated on elite athleticism, so I wouldn’t be shocked if some team rolled the dice on him in his early 30s.

*Health permitting on all of this

I think it’ll be a little more than what Horford just got. (4 years/ 109 million). Keep in mind Horford was an all star as recent as the 17-18 season. That’s a little more than Jrue’s current contract.

If we’re using Horford’s contract to gauge Jrue, people around here are going to melt at a max. Horford was already showing decline, will be 2 years older, and plays a position that typically doesn’t have the longevity of a smaller guard.
