This guy confuses the hell out of me. He's a tremendous basketball player. He's one of the very best defenders I have ever seen. Jrue defends Lebron, Jrue defends Anthony Davis. Jrue can go to the hole as well as anyone in the league. He's a well above average shooter from the field. He's a good three point shooter, good at free throws. BUT, HE CANNOT TAKE THE LAST SHOT IN A GAME, AND HE IS SO SLOPPY WITH THE BALL, CASUAL WITH THE HANDLE, AND PASSING AT CRITICAL TIMES. Believe it or not I would rather have Frank Jackson handle the ball with two minutes left.

He has no clutch genes in him.

Against LA he misses a wide open dunk because AD was in the area.

Tonight he gets a running floater blocked by Adams. He is a good player but he never takes it to the next level. Meanwhile Brandon Ingram gets one touch in the final 2 minutes.

Jrue's D alone has kept us in too many games to count that we should have been getting blown out in

You take the little bit of bad with the tsunami of good with Jrue. He's still my favourite player of all time

Clutch genes. Great way to put it. I'm just tired of losing games like this. This club will get better, but we need one alfa dog to win the game at the end. Hopefully help is on the way. Melli and Ball need to improve too.

We wouldn't even have been in those games in the first place

RIGHT now the Alpha is Brandon Ingram.

Down 1, Gentry draws up a play for Jrue. No chance in hell that play should be for Jrue. It should be BI on the block and either draw 2 defenders or go 1 on 1 8 feet from the goal.

Not a running floater

I'll agree that those Jrue end of quarter/game ISO drives v 5 people need to stop. They needed to have stopped 3 years ago. He never passes in those situations. Give it to Ingram who is the best ISO scorer BY FAR in the team

Saw a stat before the Thunder game that amogst guards, Jrue was the 3rd most efficient scoring in ISO situations. I think late in the game he's simply fatigued by how much effort he has to put out on defense just to keep the team in the game.

I’d buy that if it hadn’t been a running theme during his entire tenure here.

Not just at the end of games either, but closing out quarters or halves.

Doing so on depleted or healthy/clicking teams.

Fair enough, I've really tried to stay upbeat about the team but last night took a ton out of me.

I’m sure Gentry took all of that into account.
Maybe the D would have been keying on BI.
Jrue wasn’t a bad choice at the time.

Holiday is a streaky scorer with great defensive skills. He’s a great 3rd scoring option that can shut down the best wing on the other team. He’s also a great at finishing at the rim with a good mid range shot. He’s just not a guy who can consistently take over and close a game.

Jrue is a solid player but too inconsistent offensively. He's either lights out or plain out the building. Good at iso, but I've been saying for 2 years that it normally takes too much time and slows the game too much. His defense means nothing in 135/132 point games.

His issues mainly seem to come with him playing SG, a position expected to shoot often. We need someone to stretch the floor or create their own shot consistently. Frank Jackson is our future at this position. NAW will get his opportunities as well when he adjusts to the speed of the game.
