Another thing that really impresses me about Jaxson that I rarely see anyone comment on is his passing ability for a big. It's very rare you see a rookie C throwing quick and accurate passes for easy buckets.
It's not an often occurence and im certainly not projecting him to be the next Jokic or anything, but every now and then he has these laser passes that equal easy buckets and its encouraging to see that aspect of his game this early on. Couple that with his elite hands for a big and his shot looking smooth and I think Jaxson has really high offensive potential. There really aren't any tools he lacks. He has the length and athleticism to be an elite defender as well. Dude just has that 'IT' factor when it comes to making big plays.
EX: See his assist last night to Frank Jackson for example of his passing ability. It was at the end of the game. Fast forward to 12:15 in video to see the play im referring to. Just one example but it's impressive for a rookie C.

I agree. Jaxson is like a sponge. He sees it, hears it said, and then does it. He sees Lonzo and Jrue and JJ all making wicked passes. He is only 19 and has only been playing competitive basketball for a very few seasons. So his mind is so open to instruction. He is fun to watch.

but he’s been flat out bad
He's been disappointing during the regular season for sure, but I think it's a bit of a stretch to completely dismiss everything he did in Summer league and preseason while at the same time making a conclusive determination on who he is as a basketball player based on 2 minute stretches in his rookie year.

The reason for optimism, though, is that NAW has all the tools needed to be a great PG -- he just needs to work and develop those tools to be ready to contribute at a high level.
Well said.

Who’s doing that? I’m certainly not
He’s far off from being a contributing nba player tho

Check the splits LE. When NAW gets over 20 mpg he’s efficient and contributes across the board.
From my observations, he comes out shooting like crazy when he knows his minutes are limited, trying to make a big splash.
He seems way more settled when he knows the run he’s getting.

I disagree. He actually does well running the offense and he has insane chemistry in a two man game with Jaxson.
Pels just trust Frank to play better defense against stronger guards.

Lot of Pels bloggers fooled fans into thinking he was a certified dude.
I took this to mean you didn’t believe NAW could become a contributor. On second thought it’s easy to see how that could‘ve been a misunderstanding on my end. If so, that’s my bad.

I see in a 6g sample size when he plays between 20-29min he shoots 34fg 26 3pt 66ft
In two games over 30mpg he’s 11-22 from 3. The majority coming in a blowout lose @ Mia

NAW's a confusing player to evaluate so far, because the raw numbers are very poor for him. His BPM is -5.6, right now, which would indicate that he contributes a negative 5.6 points per 100 possessions.
But the reality is that the team performs well with him on the floor. On/off numbers are a poor indicator in small sample sizes, but NAW is positive for the season. Overall this season, the team is actually +1.2 points per 100 possessions with NAW on the floor.
That would indicate that NAW is doing some little things well that don't directly show up on the stat sheet.

when hes able to do well, whether because hes feeling good and hitting or the opponent stinks, he is let to play more.
When he stinks he is pulled.

Think Pels should think about getting NAW some G League run if he’s not going to play and practice time is limited. He needs time on the court running a team....

Because he's playing in every game !!

Jax already came in with all the athletic tools, and even has a decent free throw strike(really good for his position).
Free throw percentage shows he can make shots, so if he gets technique, AND a shot, he’s an all-star. It’s up to him and his work ethic though.
I think we had one of the best nba drafts ever if it pans out with how it’s looking.
