Griffin is terrible and should be #1 on the chopping block

Honestly the team has talent and every team has flaws/weaknesses. I think we are being overly critical of the talent he has put on the roster.

BI, Zion, CJ, and JV have all proven to be able to take over a game offensively. That is a ton of versatility. He added a slew of wing defenders who can rotate in small ball. He got Nance who everyone coveted forever. The team has no horrible contracts and has additional future picks.

I am not trying to necessarily defend Griffin, but if you are calling for him to be replaced it has to be because of the inability to hire the right coach or training staff. Getting rid of Griffin Is the move to completely overhaul the organization. The talent, contracts, and draft capital are in about as solid as a place as it could be.

I am extremely dissapointed the staff can not keep the team on the court. It definitely poorly reflects on the training staff. I think Willie should have easily banked more wins with this team. I also would have expected a little more development in some of the players.

The problem is that our biggest weakness is the baseline thing that every team needs to be a legitimate NBA title threat.

You have to be able to make 3's in this NBA.

That's one.

Our other weakness is legitimately, 0 big men outside of zion and jv.

Hayes is trash for the talent and Billy is just a poor Man's jv

There are countless metrics and ways to judge a team, but it really is this simple in today’s nba. No team currently in the bottom 10 of made 3P/game has a better than .500 record. Atlanta is in that group and is .500.

Put the ball in the hoop from three, even at below league average shooting percentage, or you will not have a winning record.

It doesn’t make you a championship team by itself, but it does eliminate you (*unless you have lebron James and a global pandemic that turns the championship into the nba version of Indian wells tennis.)

To play devils advocate perhaps the injury to BI is more significant than they are letting us know

doesn’t seem to effect him much offensively. Defensively he’s just flat out lazy

It is about scoring. The only thing about shooting threes is it is not as easy for the refs to influence a team’s offensive performance.

Refs can completely shut a team’s offense down outside of three point shooting.

That, and they are worth 50% more than the next most valuable shot.

I think it just prevents refs from manipulating games. That is probably the biggest benefit.
