We have a significant amount of proof that our 2 best players don’t make each other better. In fact, our second best player does nothing to improve or make our best player’s life easier. We are now entering year 6 of our best player’s career. We also just traded for a guy who does a lot of the same stuff that our second best player does but also does the stuff that helps our best player.
Now, because our front office failed in trading our second best player, so many are trying to convince yourselves we should extend him at 40mil per year. Have yall thought about the dynamics of this on our team? Is Ingram now good with the new banners hung in the practice facility with Zion in the front center with Murray and CJ behind him then BI, Trey, and Herb behind them? Is he cool getting announced fourth in the starting lineup? Is he going to be good with getting the third or fourth amount of shots each night while having to guard bigger guys regularly? If you can honestly answer yes to these questions, I would love to know the evidence you have seen. Keeping BI while bringing in Murray creates an unbalanced roster and team dynamics that leads us to more of the exact same results, if we are lucky.

There were times when Zion and BI were awesome together. We just need to work on consistency.

I'd be fine with him at $40 million a year. Any more than no. There are equal or lesser players than Ingram getting as much if not more than him.
Ingram could still be moved if need be at that amount too. Could be worse.

That doesn’t mean the contract is a good one to give out.

I’ve said this before part of the problem is that both of them just don’t stay healthy together enough to work on that consistency. This has been proven year after year. Zion is under contract and BI wants a new max deal. It just makes sense to move on rather than spend another 3 years hoping both stay healthy enough to be consistent.
