A athletic big, who runs the floor and can catch in traffic, has great touch around the basket, can make free throws and Eventually stretched the floor from three point range !!!

Agreed.

His shooting stroke is nice for a 7fter. Trading him now would be a big mistake IMO.

His ceiling really is somewhere high. Just watching the stroke and how he moves with his size it’s easy to picture the player he can be. It really depends if they have faith in him to make it happen but the present looks promising.

If he plays like he has the past few games the rest of the year he has got to be MIP

Not over Miles Bridges this year. Possibly next year though, I’ll allow it

but up to now hes averaging less than 1 pt more than last year, fewer rebounds and fewer assists and assists is near zero anyway.

so sure, if hes at 21 pts the rest of the season he should get it.

morants at 26+ pts. hes #2 to bridges.
last year 19.
increased rebounding
assists about same.
hes a nominee.
7 point improvement.

bridges is currently #1.

I’m not all in until I see some more defensive improvement.

That being said. I’m in.

VERY interesting note from @JakeLFischer here: "Jaxson Hayes' recent success at power forward reinvigorated his value among New Orleans staffers, which played a key factor in the calculus that prevented Hayes from heading to Portland in the exchange.”

Been high on him for a while. Once he makes it his intent to get stronger and more physical, he will be a problem.

I hope this means that with Billy coming back we start Jax again and move Graham to 6th man.

I’m not sure what his ultimate future is with us, but the super big lineup has been a problem and seems to create great overall team synergy and demonstrably raise Jax’s confidence and output

What if Ayton becomes available for sign-and-trade this offseason... would you give up JV, Graham, Hayes, and ____ # of future 1sts? Would probably need a 3rd team involved to send more win-now players to PHX for the picks and Hayes.

Would have a salary crunch with Ingram and Ayton on max deals, CJ on a 30 mil. the next two seasons, then Zion's max would start in '23/'24. But could be worth it.

Ayton's not a floor-spacer (could develop into one), but he's elite defensively. CJ/Herb/Ingram/Zion/Ayton would be wow and unique.

I would not go hard after Ayton. The trade you propose would create major roster holes with very little flexibility to address them.

Ok fair enough. Explain more about what holes that would create. Would still have Alvarado/Kira/Murphy/Naji/WHG -Temple/Clark options on bench. Might have exceptions available and savy minimum signings, plus trade options. But yea, unrealistic. But it's about putting the best 5 players on the court in playoff games, and that line-up has a lot of super talent that compliments each other.
