Exactly

After that everyone turns into a bad contract. It's going to be pretty inevitable that we end up with a few

Looks like it is time to throw cash at Hawes for 2 to 3 seasons.

@WojYahooNBA
Rockets have reached agreement with Omer Asik on a three-year, $25.1 million contract, league source tells Y! Sports.

Off the market

It's not as bad of a contrat as people are making it out to be. Centers are the most overpaid players in the league, so if you can get a starting center (I'm guessing Houston feels he can start for them), for under $10mil a year average, then it's a pretty good deal.

That looks like the most realistic option at this point. I wouldn't mind giving him a deal similar to Asisk's.

The only thing that worries me about Hawes is his FG%. 48.9% isn't very good for a center. He's still better than what we have, though. I'd like for us to sign him.

This. Especially in this era where money builds your big threes, you have to pay to play. You have to put the pieces in where you have holes. Overpaying to keep something in place can keep your team competitive for other players to want to come here.

The back loading is a poison pill if Chicago wants to match.

$12.5 million is a lot to swallow for them when the new luxury tax goes into full effect.

Yeah I don't think Hawes is the long term solution, but he's better than what we have, and for around $7-$8mil a year for a few years, he could be serviceable enough. I was reading a stat about him the other day that I wish I could find, but it was something about centers, and the ratio of them getting to the free throw line per shot attempt per 48 minutes, and Hawes posted the lowest three averages in history, which is pretty unimpressive.

he's a jump shooter and a solid rebounder...overrated imo. will probably get more than 7-8M. would rather mcgee, kaman, or just playing Davis at C

Lowry has a great contract. 2 years left around 6m a year. Dragic hasn't signed a contract yet, so can't say he is overpaid yet

$25 million for a dude that averages 3ppg? I don't care how good he is defensively, which is debatable, that's a terrible deal.
